Egan isolating

The good news is that if the same rule applies over at S6, a meteor the size of a Fiat 500 should be obliterating the Sty anytime now. :)

Some of the Fiat 500s are a lot bigger than thry used to be back in the day
So hopefully might take out Parson Cross too

Absolutely stupid having internationals and breaking up the club "bubbles".
Didsy injured, Egan isolating. With our luck Ampadu will cop for an injury today.
Norwood had the right idea binning off international football.

Good news is, the BBC is reporting that the ROI player who tested positive was also a "false positive" (same scenario as their Backroom Staff), that player is getting retested, if it's still negative then the player plus his "close contacts" will be freeeeeeeeeee

Different player this time...

Plays against Finland, gets Injured.

It can take 14 days from contact to develop the virus, however you'd still be contagious within those 14 days, hence the quarantine duration. Similar to Chicken Pox, you're contagious before the symptoms develop.

Unfortunately I suspect that means being tested daily up to Fulham might be irrelevant 😕
If you’re contagious the test would pick up COVID. I don’t know what this means in terms of playing on Saturday though I must admit.

These Covid testing rules just dont make sense. My son's football coach - his son was suspected with Covid on a Friday, rang up was told to isolate whole family for 7 days and booked a test. Drove to a drive thru test Saturday, was told results be available within 5 days, Sunday midnight emailed saying result negative dont need to isolate anymore.

So surely if Egan tests negative thats it he is fine. Same was when they were testing post lockdown. Test Monday, result comes back negative, can play. That quick ?

I`m hearing all sorts of variations on what is happening.
Egan’s in Ireland isn’t he? So can’t travel

There does seem to be a “if I can’t see it, doesn’t exist” attitude. This is an airborne disease if you follow the rules this minimises the risk but you can not make it almost impossible to catch. Footballers have extreme testing and protection but then they are running about spitting, grappling with each other, getting treatment etc. It’s no wonder if one person in the footballers circle gets it others do. It’s this level of ignorance that leads to the spread and then upset that there are restrictions. I know the government are dealing with this by keeping one eye on the economy but there is no precedent for this. This will effect most people either directly or some other way over the coming months. I pray this all comes to an end and we can get back to kidney punching Norwich children soon. 🙏🙏

This isn't necessarily true William. It depends where the virus is within the respiratory tract at the point of testing.

But anyway, enough of this boring nonsense! Let's hope he can play, because without him and JOC we might be in a spot of bother.

The Athletic are reporting that ourselves and WBA are seeking clarification from the PL as to whether Egan and Callum Robinson can be cleared for the weekend games IF a negative test is shown later in the week.

Apparently these are the first cases of PL players forced into self isolation after coming into contact with a positive team-mate on international duty, rather than them receiving a positive test themselves. The decision this week would set a precedent for future cases.

Good news I suppose that there is a small chance Egan plays, but with it being down to the PL (who in turn seek advice from the Govt.), I can't say I'm overly optimistic. It will hinge on whether club testing regimes are deemed rigorous enough to get around the usual 14 day period for the general public.

Not sure how this could be the case to be honest. Otherwise all of the NHS staff who are isolating because they have been in contact with a positive case could just be tested and get back to work, and that currently isn’t the case. If you have been in contact you could become contagious at any point in the next 14 days, a test doesn’t stop you becoming contagious within the next hour / day / etc...

Yeah I think our argument will be quite weak on this. We can test as often as we like, doesn't mean that the typical incubation period is magically shorter for our guys...

I absolutely despise the international break. Club should be number one priority in fact the only priority for me.

Technically speaking, shouldn’t any player who has been in a country that’s not on the travel list, be self-isolating for 14 days?

It makes a bit of a mockery of civilians needing to self-isolate after returning from abroad, but footballers are exempt.

Footballers are civilians, and last time I checked footballers were not key workers so I don't see why this can or should be happening.

Tests which could otherwise be provided to doctors, nurses, teachers and other front line staff.

They're testing students with runny noses these days.

The clubs are paying for them, I would very much hope that frontline staff have them provided FOC.

I don't see how paying for something changes the fact that the tests are otherwise in short supply? If the clubs were not paying for them, the supply would be available for those who require a test, having shown symptoms, or working in an environment, such as a hospital, where you're at a high risk.

Many students are also on placement in hospitals and GP surgeries. A lot also have part-time jobs in shops, bars, restaurants etc.
