The money they could make with turning the premier league into a streaming platform would be astronomical and make the tv deals now look small fry

The WWE have the WWE network where it’s same concept as Netflix shouldn’t be that hard to do surely

If Netflix or wwe thought they could make more cash another way they would. Ask yourself.. would it bring in billions from the UK alone a year?

Whatever makes them the most they will go with.

Not a huge fan of online streaming for sports. Amazon was so delayed I was getting texts from mates at different tines as everyone seemed to be delayed! I did s test on two different apps on two different screens next to each other and they were 30 seconds apart!

The reason the premier league haven’t is because they don’t have the leadership or know how of how to do it

If you watch the video it shows how much money they could make which is madness

But the prem are probably content with just letting the TV companies dictate

There is one thing they do know how to do and that's make the most TV money possible.

Clearly not ......

Yeah they can do it when they sell the rights to a TV company but when it comes to puttting in the work they CBA

Confirmed on the BBC - for October at least:

Having to pay for a Sky subscription AND PPV seems like a really bad deal to me - especially when you're still going to miss those on BT sport.

I'm just looking at it from the perspective that I've not bought my season ticket so even if I have to pay £15 for every match I'm still going to save money.

I suppose it's cheaper than the season tickets we would have been buying.
£15 isn't cheap to watch on TV, but it's not much compared to match day tickets especially if a few of you are watching (assuming that's allowed under the covid rules?).

I would have been mighty pissed off to have paid £15 for any of the four matches so far. At least the ticket money for a game goes towards a 'day out' and an experience. Sitting on the sofa watching referees con us out of points isn't fun and certainly not worth £15. Unless they get people to buy 'season passes' up front, I think they'll see a massive drop off in viewing numbers for a lot of teams.

Personally i feel £14.95 on top of Sky / Netflix and Amazon subscriptions is a tad too much for me will drive peeps into the IPTV world plenty of choice out there if you look hard enough - if longer term we get a definite no season ticket then id consider it however while people are waiting for news on season tickets maybe people would be unwilling to part with more money???

I’ll pay for the Fulham game as it’s crucial and a six pointer, and also the Chelsea game as I see us having at least half a chance of picking something up from that.

I am not paying to watch Liverpool beat us up though, no chance. I will watch the score clock up on the Flash Scores app.

In theory this should lead to the ‘less fashionable’ teams getting more air time from a financial point of view as ppv for the most popular teams more often will bring in more money. It won’t though, nothing will change with how they chose games

If they are going to do this then they should re look at their live broadcasting schedule to make sure all the clubs have the same amount of live broadcasts because at present that is not the case

You would think that Sky/BT will now start showing more of the less popular teams on the normal non PPV time slots, I can't imagine our match against Fulham is going to get that many buys.

it can go stuff itself. its stinks like Arsenal making 55 redundant but spending 45m on a partey. thats a reason why we would couldnt spend what we wouldve like in a normal window because of covid economy. & like was said on twitter if they were so concerned about cash dont spend 1.2bn on transfers

also even if was going hypothetically buy its way over priced, & like i always think about Boxing (16.95 - 24.95), they wouldve made far more money at 4.99 but i cant see much take up for that. as i will genuinely listen to radio sheffield than be ripped off

So we've been moved away from a Saturday afternoon, again, to Sunday. At 12pm. Again.

And we now have to pay £15 for it. On top of all the other sports channel subscriptions we fork out for. Unless we go to the pub. Which might be shut.

Fuuuuuuuuuck off. Seriously.

Yeah. I think that's me done with Sky too. I'd rather take the grand a year that it costs and spend it in the pub, or put it towards a holiday. I've been saying I'll leave for years, but I think PPV football just nudges me over the line. To watch every game (minus the ones not selected for Sky coverage) that's easily an extra £400-£500 a year!

Even as someone who's moralised over people using illegal streams in the past.. there comes a point where you just have to admit defeat and join the crowd.

Really strange decision because they tried this before. It was called PremPlus, and shit load of people cancelled their subscriptions because they didn't agree with paying extra for it and it was eventually canned.

Random fact: the last ever game shown on PremPlus was Aston Villa v Sheffield United.

The famous NW screw up one?

Pretty annoyed tbh. I’ve literally just added BT Sports to my Sky Sports package for an extra £25pm. I also have Amazon Prime. I was thinking with no end in sight to no crowds at matches I’d got all my bases covered and would be able to watch us whenever we’re on.

I’m fuming that now I’ll have to pay another £15 per game on top of the now £67 plus £7.99 Amazon Prime I’m already paying to watch our matches.

Bear in mind your top six clubs are televised virtually every match so this will only penalise the fans of the smaller clubs (everybody but the top six) who will be mostly ppv.

I’ll probably cancel the BT Sport add-on now as it’s on a rolling one month contract.

Really pissed off with this.

I get it, but £14.99? They can fuck off.

It's not like they're not already there filming it anyway. Why not come to a deal with Dazn and NBCSN etc and share commentators for games, spread the effort.

This is just a way of ripping people off, especially clubs such as us, West Brom, Burnley who won't be selected for TV games.

Pre covid the highlights on sky were just the edited versions of NBC coverage. Owned by same company and they use English/sky commentators. It's the clubs themselves forcing it down the ppv model not the broadcasters.

The product is hugely weakened with no fans and it doesn't feel like a real season as it is. This just basically ends the season as anything other than a friendly tournament now. Loads of fans won't be watching their clubs games in any format for the next 8 months now and the connection of fans and club will be totally lost for the entire season.

Football with no fans in the ground is terrible, football with most fans not even watching from home is basically game over. Let's hope the streaming lads can save the day.

I've just cancelled BT Sport. Now on hold to Sky (can't cancel because I'm in contract, but I'm giving them notice I'm leaving at the end).
