No way I'm paying ANOTHER £15 per game on top of my existing :

NowTV £8.99
Added SS £20
Prime. £ 7.99
Netflix £7.99

Think this will die a death.

It won't die a death, because people will pay as they aren't going to a match and spending their cash on travelling and boozing.

I've just about the same set-up as you, and just cancelled our Sky renewal - I practically only watch it for our matches anyway - and then I'll pay for the Fulham match.

Same with BT once we've played City, pick and choose will be the way. It'll just need some careful managing of subscriptions, we do it for other stuff depending on what we're watching, just means the same for United. No doubt it'll be more expensive overall, but it was bound to happen with fans out for the longer term now.

The clubs have royally misjudged the mood right now. People are fed up of the sort of football we are getting now. They aren't going to pay to see more of it. The worst thing is that the games of the big clubs will naturally generate more interest so it's more money going to the elite. No neutral is going to pay to watch Sheffield United v Burnley but they might to see Man Utd v Man City.

Most loyal supporters who are already pissed off about not being able to get into grounds are not going to pay to see something they don't enjoy that they got for free a week ago.

Well we've just broken our transfer record, and we have no season ticket income for the forseeable, we have to fund ourselves.

I was on hold for 20 minutes to cancel BT Sport. The guy said they're busy because loads of people are cancelling.

I gave up trying to get through to Sky!

My Facebook and Twitter streams are full of people saying they're cancelling, as is this thread.

I would suggest the Premier League and 19 clubs have completely misread the mood of the nation.

Which is why the whole thing is ridiculous. We've spent £60m on players but are basically pleading poverty about how we need money. We aren't even a top spender either. All this does is see the rich get richer as the big clubs will attract the more subscribers. It's essentially a private TV deal for every team just like Barca and Real have. We have fought against that sort of deal for years and now here we are

It is but won't the majority of the big club games not be part of this? As they're usually selected for main matches of the week on BT or Sky?

Any game featuring one of the big 4 or 5 not on Sky will trounce the takings of most other clubs. Even our own fans will likely rather pay to see us play Man U than Burnley.

I don't like essentially private TV deal for each club in any situation as La Liga shows what happens to the competition.

I've paid £10 to watch Harrogate Town on 4 occasions and I don't mind paying that to a lower league club whose income relies largely on gate receipts.

Most of the games I've seen on Now TV have hardly been worth watching ( not just United games) and I certainly wouldn't want to pay any more than £10 per game.

It's about time Premier League clubs stopped spending obscene amounts of money on transfers fees and wages.

I had a season ticket for their first season in the National League and would have had one for this season in League Two except for Covid. I know quite a few of their regulars and it's a 20 minute free bus ride from near where I live in North Leeds. Good beer and great food, especially in the clubhouse they have.
Can you imagine, though, they get to Wembley twice (win both times) and can't go!

20 minute walk for me! Not quite League 1 just yet ;)

I let my Now TV subscription go a few weeks ago so I am ahead of the game :)
Most of the football is just boring now anyway, it wasn't that great before especially when it was on 24/7. And then everyone is skint and the streams are getting a lot better, despite all efforts to stop them, so I'm out. I know it's bad but the amount of money they pay themselves nauseates me as well so fuck 'em.

Not being funny, I support the blades through thick and thin, but I'm not paying 15 quid to watch my team (on a stream) have 2 shots on target in 90 minutes (if we're on a good day) when they still owe me 4 games back for me and my lads from last years season ticket .. Bollocks to it

The situation in Spain is also different for historical reasons. Although the TV distribution benefited the rest of the clubs the last time it was re-negotiated it makes little overall difference.

It doesn't in England either really. Manchester United's total turnover in 2018/19 was £712m and Manchester City and Liverpool over £600m. Everton's, by comparison, was £213m. Those clubs which regularly get into the Champions League have a spending power that dwarfs the rest.

In a roundabout way it might actually benefit clubs which put a higher value on recruitment, development and coaching, rather than outbidding for players in a dutch auction which inevitably leads to a rush to get rid of high wage earners when relegation inevitably arrives

The only reason I would pay extra is if the money goes to the club. Surely the club could sell the equivalent of a season ticket for a good discount Say £5 per game.
I am not paying £15 to watch a game on telly when I can stream for nothing. The streams are not dodgy they are just illegal. But I watch football every day from them They are so not hard to find.

Just off to watch Derby Watford starts in 5 minutes I bet I find a stream before it starts

The reason Sky and BT subscriptions are falling is football without crowds is pretty wank to watch from the living room. I certainly wouldn't be signing up to Sky or BT it really is a poor substitute for getting your coat on going to the lane and watching the real thing.
Have they re-formed? I like Can You Feel The Force and You To Me Are Everything but wouldn't be fussed about seeing them live.
