Player Suggestion David Brooks

You said exactly the same about Brewster. 🤣

We were genuinely linked with Brewster. I just suspected that we would miss out when Palace became interested, but this later turned out to be false.

With Brooks, the source of this rumour is Wilder saying he'd love to bring someone like him back but it's beyond where we're at as a football club. Seems a few media outlets and now our own fans have ran away with that.

Bit more to it, few posters on here have "contacts" with his family and have heard it is a bit more than a passing interest....

I would have him back in a heartbeat, exactly what we are missing IMO.....all this pony about him being a sick-note is rubbish....he was struck down with Glandular Fever when he was with us which was pure bad luck and apart from that he's had a bad ankle injury that has needed a couple of ops to get right......no worse than the vast majority of footballers to be fair.

Brooks isn't even a Sheffielder. I'm not sure why so many of our fans would be best mates with his family. Anyway, I'll remain sceptical and leave you lot to it on this one...

You were also convinced we didn't have the money for Brewster...

I think you're a realist, CM, so I can't knock you for it. But I disagree with outright writing this off. I would've done the same a week ago, but it's not the maddest thing considering other potential interested clubs for Brooks are signing other players and some kind of move does make sense for him.

Apparently his girlfriend is a Sheffield girl and subsequently retains on going contact with family and her friends, he obviously has taste.

He had a nasty injury which took a couple of ops to clear, and the type of player he was you would have questions around if he's either lost any mobility, confidence or has a underlying weakness to occurrence which is exacerbated by the design and lack of protection given by modern boots.
If he plays 20-25 games this season then that is removed, meaning he's worth the £30M they're asking for.

He's been fit for nearly a year why do you keep insisting that hes a crock

The Examiner article didnt quote a source for saying we're not interested. Hemmingham just put 2 and 2 together about not being able to afford a permanent transfer and Bournemouth not being interested in a loan. On the face of it, that makes sense.

But it doesn't take that much imagination to see how a deal can be done. A season long loan with an obligation to buy next summer at a chunky price (which could go up based on performance) but contingent on us staying up so guaranteeing we are in good financial health with funds available could work for everyone couldn't it?

Probably wishful thinking but to say a deal cannot be done is surely not right.

Why does he have to be from Sheffield for anyone to know his family....????

Hemmingham claimed there was no truth to it in his article yesterday but didn't back it up with a source.....(typical journo!).

I don't, it's just you getting upset at what you think you see.
You are lying in stating he's been fit for a year as that's clearly bollocks. I'm not sure why you are claiming that in support of your argument because if you're making things up to support it, it ends up undermining your point.
What I'm consistently saying is that there are question marks around his ankle injury, so teams won't pay the big money until they're answered and neither should we.
Never said he's a crock.

I can't see him playing in the Championship this season. He won't want to, at least.

Who else would be genuinely keen on him in the Prem?

That's why I currently have a slight hope.

Well now the PL Transfer Deadline has gone only the EFL Transfer period left surely there is someone at Bournemouth we can pinch if not Brooks ?

Anyone saying he's worth £30m + needs to look at comparable transfers from championship sides this season. Eze went for £16m, he's a year younger than brooks and arguably better. I know ita subjective in terms of contract length and the selling club needing money but its a benchmark and half the value people are expecting Brooks to cost. Plus we get 15% off.

Not that I think we'll buy him. I think we're after a LCB

A wobble your head must need...comparing Eze, having never played in the PL, to Brooks!

PL experience fair enough, but at the start of this season they were both Championship players.

If he does sign I’ll gladly pick him up in Bournemouth to drive him up to Sheffield

I dont think Eze is arguably better player tbh, or even comparable. Brooks has played well in the Premier league, and his stats for Bournemouth who werent remotely a top team are very good. Their fans really rate him too which says a lot.

I just worry about his build and how that might relate to injuries moving forwards. Id love him back though as unrealistic as it obviously is.

I still think he is, or at least close, but you make a very good point.
