Player Suggestion David Brooks

Where does this shite come from that he's always injured and a "sick note" etc?

He was out for a month with an injured ankle. He then ended up having ankle surgery which put him out for the season.

He's very similar to that "sick note" Jack O'Connell. Just replace ankle, with knee.

Brewster was out for over a year with an ankle Injury.

Not sure on “sicknote” but there will be queries around him until his ankle stands up to a full season and proves it’s healed without ongoing complications.
If those question marks weren’t there then someone would have already been in.

His recent injury might play into our hands slightly.
Like with the Brewster buyback clause, it probably puts us in with a shout that we might not have had without it.

Without a single injury, Brooks has already had his top 6 move.

1. Where did he fit in our system (which is one of the key reasons we let him go) ?

2. Where would he fit in it now ??

Not sure where the gaffer is going with this one !!

All these people betting on Brooks coming here are very, very silly. Wasting their money. There's no way we are spending anymore significant money. If we get him, it will be a loan... And loans don't count on the betting market. So that means people are betting on us spending AT LEAST >£20m. Not a chance.

Loan deals count on Sky bet
That is why I had money on Brewster but am obviously v happy that he signed on a permanent

Depends on betting company/wording of the bet.

I don't really do it anymore, but sometimes it'd be "next club" which included loan.

Anyway yeah, loan to buy 😍 Seems silly not to be totally satisfied after signing Brewster! But hey, unprecedented times allow this pipe dream.

Cavani? He's older than me, and I have to roll out of bed in a morning.
As crazy as it sounds Brooks is probably the cheaper option to Sancho, but that would really piss the Man U fans off.
Urgh you quoted me before i edited in the AWOL "United"...! Now i look like a shit pundit!

Simple enough.

What role / function would he fulfil ?

Who’s shirt is he going to take ?

UTB
Presumably he would occupy the second striker role or attacking midfield if there is a formation tweak. Part of our progression has to be to add more creativity and not be so reliant on crosses from wide positions.

Cant see it happening myself, Bournemouth have already shed some serious £ from their wage bill this summer (Rammers, Ake, Fraser and Wilson) so I’m struggling to see why they would agree to a loan.

Whenever I've seen him play more centrally he's struggled and he always looked far more comfortable with more space out wide or able to roam as a second striker.
Therefore, if by some miracle the rumours are true and CW is somehow able to land him, I'd imagine he'd be earmarked to play RCM or off McBurnie/Brewster.
BTW did you realise you've dropped Fleck from the side?

I did. Stevens and Norwood too. I can’t take credit though it was me who put that side together, it’s a screenshot of another post!

However, I think if Fleck is in the outcome would have been the same 😉

First season for Bournemouth he played 30+ got a young player of the season nomination.

That’s the only option.

Which based on the experience of others in this role, suggests he would probably be an off the bench impact player.

Not a luxury we can afford right now !!

IMHO.

Yeah I understand where you’re coming from. I think he would be a big upgrade on what we currently have though. If it wasn’t for his injuries he would be getting linked with top 6 teams rather than us. I just don’t think we have the sort of cash needed to do a deal like this at the moment, unless it’s a loan-to-buy, and as I said above, I don’t really see why Bournemouth would agree to a loan. Spoke to him last night. Said his mate rang him out of the blue and told him to get some money on Brooks coming back and he'd cover his bet if he didn't.

I've never met this lad and haven't got a clue how reliable he is.

Just thought the timing might add some fuel to the fire.

We could easily fit Brooks in.

Most obvious position is RCM with Sander holding and Fleck or Osborne left. Otherwise in the 10 just behind the main striker, (imagine him threading balls through for Brewster). However I really like the thought of 2 holding midfield players in Sander and Ampadu, then Brooks behind Brewster and McB.

The thing is, he IS being linked with top 6 sides. Then Wilder mentioned him by name recently and we all started chinwagging about him.

Agree Bournemouth may have sorted their finances with Ake sale etc... But if Brooks wants to leave they might let him.

RCM.

Lunnys role that requires physical presence and defensive discipline ?

Really !!!

It would be ideal if all 3 midfielders could be solid defensively and attacking but why RCM in particular?

Burge holding means we are defensively stronger, Osborn is a complete box to box player, and we know either wingback can cover as well going backwards.

Admittedly I see Brooks as a 10, playing off a striker but we currently need more goals and more attacking threat. Maybe a couple of players (Brewster and Brooks?) Could get away without being a jack of all trades.

I'd be careful posting things like this if i were you...

So let me get this straight. We’ve got rid of Freeman because we don’t have a place in the team for him in that position, and yet we’re going to then change our formation to accommodate a player on loan who has question marks over fitness?

I’d love to see us go a bit more attacking and make some more chances but I just don’t see this happening, soz.

Ring him back and ask if he’ll cover my bet and I’ll put a monkey on it (tbh not sure what a monkey is but heard people saying it ont TV)
£100 when I was at school a long time ago.😎

Are you really comparing Luke Freeman to David Brooks? Brooks is a game-changer, a match winner, whatever you want to call him. He's the kind of player you're happy to make a tweak to your formation for if it means fitting his talent in. As it stands, he actually does fit in our formation. IMO he was best for us playing just off the striker, rather than in the "Duffy role". I think playing in our team now that's where Wilder would see him fit. I can't quite believe I'm even bothering to write this as it seems so unthinkable we'd actually be able to land him, even on loan, but yes he'd absolutely fit.
