We want four, we want four

Burke is in the Czech Republic tonight, sitting on Scotland’s bench. So he won’t be signing for a day or two or three.

Burke seems nailed on. Dennis would be great. I expect us to sign a few forwards though. Surely we won’t be signing Brewster now, aren’t we only allowed one Prem loan?

CW always said would be a couple of loan signings, so one of the strikers I'm guessing is either Brewster or Dajaku.

Other one will likely be Burke although really hoping/wishing for Dennis instead.

Burke appeared to be done & dusted, but it sounds like either us or WB are driving a slightly harder bargain than the other wanted. Can't see it not getting done though, they want Robinson where as I think we have moved on from him, and Burke potentially looks like a rough diamond with his pace & power whom Wilder & Knill could really mould into something special.

I have a very good feeling that Brewster will come to us, despite desperate Villa offering up the cash that was set aside for Watkins (I would seriously piss myself if they didn't land a striker in this window by the way). I am not sure personally that the Dennis rumour was ever credible, happy to be proven wrong though.

A strike force of McBurnie, Mousset, Brewster, McGoldrick, Sharp and Burke is decent and gives us lots of options imo.

Don’t dismiss Burke.

He must have something about him to have racked up almost £30m in transfers so far and he’s still very young. He’s an unusual one. Big strong lad with rapid pace that can play centre forward or winger.

We need a wild card or two like that.

And if Wilder can get a tune out of Leon Clarke then Burke could be the best signing so far!

Surely it's two. We had Henderson and Besic last year. Have the rules changed?

Deeney would have been a useful signing years ago.

Wilder has done it before, and signed an old stager for a season initially. Think Jake Wright, Leon Clarke, Jags, Didzy. He might do the same again with Deeney.

It's not the case of West Brom stalling. It's because both players are away on international duty and won't be signing deals until they get back

Deeney would still demand a huge amount of money and a transfer fee as he is pivotal to Watford going back up. Plus Watford don’t seem short of funds so potentially wouldn’t even need the money.

Fair enough, was just going on what a journalist said on SSN.

I know why you're saying that, but I'd be surprised if you're right. With the exception of Jags, all those other players you mentioned were signed when we were in League 1 or Championship. I think Jags was brought back to provide experience and moral support for the lads in our first season back in the Prem, possibly with a view to a coaching role. I don't think it was ever intended that he'd be a regular starter.

We're in a different place now. We need to be looking for players who can take us forward over the next few seasons, not just plug a gap for now. If you look at what Wilder is doing with recruitment of late, he's bringing younger, fitter, faster players to the club. We've got an ageing strike force and the old adage, "a good young 'un will beat a good old 'un" is true I think, especially at this level of football. I cannot see him bringing in another striker aged over 30. Not at all.

I remember seeing Deeney when he first made the first team at Watford. There was a match at the lane and I think he may have scored? I remember thinking what a promising young lad he was. A very good young player. So I'm not doubting the bloke's ability - but if he was 10 years younger then maybe he'd be a great signing - at 32 years old now, no thank you very much. It's not happening.

Bloody hell! What an excuse. Don't they have "Docusign" or summat? I travel all around the world (or used to) and I've signed legal contracts on my mobile phone whilst sitting in an airport lounge. You don't have to physically be in a certain place to sign a contract. I suspect it suits them, or their agents, to stall a bit longer then?

what happened with retsos? Is that still in the shadows or does the ampadu loan cover that off and DM cover ?
Would still like brewster and Dennis
Still unsure about burke 🤔

I thought it was 3 international loans - making 5 in total? We had Henderson, Besic, Retsos & Zivkovic last season.
Besic isn't classed as an International loan. He came from Everton.
