Emmanuel Dennis - Real Madrid slayer

This would be an awesome signing and a real statement of intent.
Over the moon would be the biggest understatement there’s ever been if I see Dennis wearing the shirt shaking Chrissys hand! 😁

Lundstram's case does somewhat remind me of Duffy's - give me some more money and, by the way, other teams are interested (except they're not really!). Maybe the main difference is that Lundstram would still have residual value if he re-signed whereas Duffy wouldn't or that CW still sees a role for Lundstram whereas he possibly didn't for Duffy.

I was a little surprised when CW eluded last week that the contract offer is still on the table (~6 months after it was initially made). Perhaps he's playing the (very) long game on this one. TBH I can't imagine m/any Prem clubs thinking that he'd improve their midfield and he'd be worth a lot more than Utd are offering.
Bit different from Duffy in as much as hadn't Duffy just signed an improved contract but went cap-in-hand anyway, versus Lunny being at the end of his and holding out on signing the improved one? Suppose it also depends on if there have been any sniffs around Lunny - if you believe the rumours there have been from Rangers - which if they are an "official" approach (albeit one that might not meet Utds valuation) means that it isn't Lunny going begging for extra, but him being sensible and carefully considering his options before committing to (i'd guess) a 4-year deal at this current club.

Assuming the above is the case, then I don't think anyone would blame him for taking the time to think carefully. Wilder obviously holds him in some esteem and respects the way he has gone about his business, otherwise we all know what the net result would be - a Lundstram-shaped hole in Chris's office window. So i'd wager that Lundstram isn't even coming close to taking the piss, which gets him at least a couple of Blade brownie-points.

Somewhat off-the-topic though - it just got me thinking.

On-topic, i know sweet fuck-all about Emmanuel Dennis. I only knew very marginally more about Sander Berge when he joined, and that was only because everyone started creaming themselves when it came out the first offer had been rejected last summer over how he was "the next big thing". But as i've said repeatedly before, Chris Wilder has done MORE THAN ENOUGH to earn the benefit of the doubt on all his signings, and it'll be a long time and a lot of wasted money before that store of goodwill is expended, so if Chris likes him, then i expect him to be a reasonable signing.

Is Nigerian football age fraud a thing of the past? I know a lot of past players were rumoured as being lots older than their ‘official’ football age... see Kanu, Jay Jay Okocha and Taribo West

All they need to do is scan inside their legs and count the rings. Then they’ll know for definite.

S2 have spoken Chris, gerrimin!

And Obafemi Martins

There's some great stories about Kanu from his Poet

There's some great stories about Kanu from Harry Redknapp and David James from when they were at Portsmouth. Kanu didn't like stairs and would always use the lift and used to get pushed around the training ground in a wheelchair. They reckon he was almost 50 when he was playing there

Does he mean players from abroad or players on international duty? The naughty naughty tease

Gone silent this, maybe one of the 23 ridiculous offers Wilder gets everyday although Suarez would have been a cool signing.

Up to now it's looking like 3 signings, where a week ago not one of us had an inkling about

Don't be surprised if the next two follow the same pattern

My guess is that all the strikers we've heard rumours about and been linked to, we've probably enquired about but are beyond our budget. So get ready for two more no one saw coming
