Will repeat my post from another thread;

As far as Sheffield United are concerned it is called "Shit Happens".....

Hawkeye have some serious explaining to do and should be put under considerable pressure to answer the following;

  1. Can they categorically confirm and evidence that the system was working as it should during the first half, (at the beginning of the second half the Sky commentator said, "we are assured it is now working" which inferres it wasn't.
  2. Can they categorically confirm and evidence Michael Olivers watch was switched on and working correctly during the first half
  3. Why did Michael Oliver allegedly get a "goal" signal sent to him during half time, was this as either the Hawk-eye system or his watch were switched back on?
  4. Why have there been no pictures or graphics at all...., is it because it wasn't switched on?
  5. How can the reason for the goal not being given be due to "occlusion" by players and the post when Hawkeye technology boasts it clearly has the ability to remove all said occlusions.
In my opinion unless Hawkeye can answer and evidence the above 5 points satisfactorily then they have been professionally negligent and just like any other company that has been professionally negligent they can be sued. If we miss out on European Football due to those 2 points dropped then we have a right to consider legal action.

Let it go, after reading all that I'm going back to the fisting thread for some more sensible discussion

To all those who will not sign.
Why not? Is it out of embarrassment?
Even if it does nothing we are still ASKING the right questions. Not just laying back taking it. A lot of people seem to have lost their nerve over this lockdown. They could possibly play at seasons end?

This is worse than the whole Tevez thing... all we got from that was money and no justice! I think it's just the principle. Tbh I don't REALLY want a replay, but it's the clearest form of justice we can ask for other than money.

We should have refused to play on at ht until it was put right - I’m still bemused at how little fuss Wilder and the players made of it. But a replay is not the answer because 1. we already have a packed fixture list due to what was our game in hand and still being in the Cup; and 2. we could lose the game and be even worse off.
Which would have meant that the game would have been abandoned because of our refusal to play on.
Everything else would have been classed as secondary to that and we WOULD have lost the point we gained AND been fined heavily.

I guess Uzbekistan should have just 'let it go' back in 2005.

Their match was more important than this one, and they got a replay so why not us?
Just to say I am behind you all the way,(in a social distancing configuration you understand) an old adage 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'.
It probably won't work but hey it's worth a try. A little embarrassment won't hurt, 'sticks and stones may break my bones but calling names won't hurt me'.
Being in the winter of life I despair at what I see today from lots of people. A reticence to question, just accepting to the point it's almost like brainwashing. I am always being told, I can't say this or I can't do that. Well, I tell them, I can. Providing I don't swear or be rude and keep calm I can say what I like. There are no thought police, or at least there wasn't the last time I checked.
Hundreds of thousand of people lost there lives for free speech, don't let us lose it to the control freaks. Speak up.

Yeah, we could lose the game. But let's be honest that match against Villa was nothing but a pre-season friendly, it was crap. If we start to gain some momentum we could play Villa and take revenge. If we lose, we lose on fair play. That's suppose to be football. Thats not what we all witnessed on wednesday.

A lot of people seem to have lost their nerve over this lockdown.

I’ve probably upped the number of petitions I sign over the lockdown if anything.

If there’s one I strongly agree with, I’ll sign it. Not signing this one isn’t due to loss of nerve, or anything else like petition fatigue, it’s simply because it’s not one I have any intention of signing. I agree with the first part of this petition, but won’t be signing it because I completely disagree with the suggestion the match should be replayed.

I don’t think so. We were too soft on this occasion. Had we put more pressure on the ref and put Sky’s tv schedule at risk we may possibly have seen a different outcome, such as being allowed to walk the ball into an empty goal.

There is absolutely no way all the cameras and VAR could have missed that. We were cheated basically, and we just accepted it.

Yes, we were on the receiving end of a gigantic mistake.

Yes, I would expect, nay demand, that this is looked into thoroughly by the relevant parties in order that we can i) be told the full truth and ii) avoid a recurrence for some other unfortunate team in the future (or let’s be right, probably us again!)

No, I do not want a replay of the game - whatever you think about the decision and how ‘robbed’ we were, there is no way that you can replay the game now - the time for the decision to be rectified was immediately - that didn’t happen.

I really think we should move on and allow football as a whole to sort this out - asking for replays seems a bit desperate to be honest.

I said on the day and I’ll say again now - a draw was the most we deserved on Wednesday - forget that we could have won if the goal stood, we frankly were poor and only deserved a point.

If we were to replay the game, villa would probably fancy their chances of beating us.
I respect your view, but would you think the same way if it had been the last match of the season and we needed a win to gain a Champions League or Europa League place ?

I think we would have a good chance of winning 3 points playing from 43 minutes with a 1-0 lead.

Regardless of that, in this particular case I think it is the right thing to do for the integrity of the EPL.

Absolutely this.

Its about our suspicions that this will quickly get swept under the carpet as much as the actual injustice for me.

Yes these things sometimes happen (although why us again!!) but at the very least we should expect proper answers rather than a half arsed apology and a response full of holes.

That won’t change anything now I don’t think but doesn’t mean that the club don’t deserve a proper explanation.

As others have said I do think wilder and the team should have made more of it at the time and I still don’t get why Oliver couldn’t have allowed the goal during the half time interval after explaining to both managers the reasons behind it.

Poor all round

How is this any different to before we had Hawkeye/VAR?

Take a super sunday game for example, when showing the replay of a goal, the replay shows the striker was in fact 2 yards offside, and the commentators call it out.
Fans were not demanding games to be replayed then......Otherwise most games would have been replayed.
So why would we have replays now?

You obviously think it’s all a bit sad.

It could also be said that taking the time to look at it, note the figures and post a snide comment, rather than just ignoring it is a bit sad.

I think it’s sad and I don’t see the comment as snide. If it’s factual it shows the level or lack of in this instance support.

FM can bang on about other teams in other competitions but using change. Org, come on.

None of the people involved are going to tell the truth, they’re already hiding behind statements that contain nothing but arrogance and we’ll never get to know why Tierney decided to turn a blind eye, which is undoubtedly what he did.

More grubbiness from the PL and their minions. Nothing will change.

This is ridiculous. We have won back the respect and admiration of huge parts of the footballing world after our actions re the west ham debacle. We're almost universally admired and respected for what we've done this season. Something like this just makes us look sad, small and petty.

Add to that the fact that we were, to be honest, a bit shit on wednesday, and a point and clean sheet is a decent result when all's said and done (controversy aside).

It's shit, and I'm as mad about it as the next Blade, but we move on to Newcastle. Hopefully the fact that we've already played a competitive match, plus the (hopeful) return of the Scottish Messi, will give us the edge.

I was disappointed at the lack of reaction from ourselves. I know they can't surround the ref but they could have made a stand at half time or right after.

Please make it stop.

It did, that’s why this is going on. Everything did.
HawkEye stopped working
Oliver and his assistant stopped using their eyes
Tierney stopped being, well, truthful?

Only things that didn’t stop was PL and Mike Riley being full of shit.

“Hi Chris – Mike McCarthy from Radio Sheffield, great to see you again. Looking ahead to Sunday’s game away at Newcastle, we’ve had news that United fans are petitioning the Premier League to replay the game against Aston Villa. Your thoughts?”

I never liked the Arsenal replay and this would be even worse. Win it on the pitch not in the courts - we should have gone out 2nd half and made sure for ourselves. I will not be supporting or signing this personally.

https://www.change.org/p/english-premier-league-replay-the-sheffield-united-aston-villa-match

'On the 17th June 2020 Sheffield United faced Aston Villa in the Premier League, a match which has huge ramifications at the top and bottom of the table.

After 42 minutes, the Aston Villa goalkeeper took the ball over the line yet a goal was not awarded by Hawkeye due to a technological failure by their supposedly infallible system, and VAR did not intervene despite clear evidence from Sky cameras that this was a 'clear and obvious error'.

The game finished 0-0, which will dent Sheffield United's chances of an unprecedented European finish and damage Aston Villa's relegation rivals at a potentially massive financial cost.

Therefore the game should be replayed from 43 minutes with Sheffield United leading 1-0 and the previous game struck off from the records.

There is precedent for the invalidation of such results. In 2005, the bureau of the FIFA World Cup organising committee reached a decision to invalidate the result of a World Cup qualification match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on the basis of a 'technical error by the referee of the match'.

We the undersigned believe that in the interest of fairness and sporting integrity that a full independent investigation is launched to these events to ensure they do not happen again, as that the English Premier League should mandate that the match be replayed under these conditions.'

We have nothing to lose, and far more ambitious and outlandish online petitions have resulted in success than this one.

Please share far and wide!
We have nothing to lose except one point.

Mistakes happen in football, always have and always will.

It's a part of the game and now is the time to get over it and move on.
