You would hope so. People want to see football played rather than it cancelled or PPG.

Football and contact sport is one of the hardest things to work really. Many other jobs can social distance to some degree. They cannot. The whole essence of football is being close to each other/contact. I am unsure of any way round the above unless you just say sorry you mate has got it, you may/probably have it (even tests may not show they have it yet) but you are going to have to play? Players will go to the PFA and revolt or just refuse to play. The top level players have enough money they can sit it out for a further 6-12 months. The others down the leagues are in a different position of course.

Clubs cannot even agree to play on neutral venues (if more than 6 nix that ideas; project restart is effectively finished really), so we are a long way from games even being agreed whatever the Government has announced today which only says they will consider it from June 1st - my feelings is that will get taken off the table nearer the time but hope I am wrong.

I dont know the answer and yes football has to come back at some point and cannot wait till a vaccine as effectively there would be no clubs left and football and top level sport would die but feel we are still a long way from players and leagues be able to safely resume.

Be interesting to see if the Bundesliga carry off and sure the Premier League will watch carefully. If that and other leagues try and it works then who knows but I still think the plan is wrought with too many stumbling blocks sadly.

Will they withhold the particular neutral venue until just before kick off to limit travel??

It really depends on the type of test being used, as the technique and quality has been shown to vary for this – some used in the UK are more sensitive at detecting the virus than others, and there have been cases of false negatives being recorded. The most sensitive tests (ie those that are mostly likely to read as a positive result if only a small amount of the virus is present) require sending samples to a lab, and therefore time to get the results back. There are rapid diagnostic machines that the Premier League was looking at that can provide the same sort of result for 1 person every 2.5 hours. If someone tests positive on a Friday it’s extremely unlikely, unless clubs have multiple machines, that they could check all the staff ahead of a game the following day. The logistics of this are challenging.

I'd take PPG right now and a plan for a new season start in August/Sept behind closed doors and normal football at BDTBL after the World Cup next January if Covid permits

I'm on record as saying I have no appetite, nor interest, in these currently rumoured Ersatz Football games. So, don't hit me hard. I won't be making any effort myself. But, Project ABCD is very much alive.

Sign on to work for Global Security,they have irons in many fires regarding security for many events,be tuff if you get placed outside the ground tho,pittance wages too.
 
How many pitches does the FA St George's HQ have? Enough for 3 to 4 teams to arrive and play games? Surely that must be one of the venue's under consideration?
 
LaLiga has been doing some groundwork as players returned to training.

They have tested 2500 players and coaches. They were expecting 3% to test positive. There was actually 5 people in total all of whom have been isolated.

Season will restart on 12 June with games everyday to end of July. All players will be tested 24 hours before a game. Anyone tested positive will not be allowed to play.

They say the least chance of catching the virus is on the pitch as prolonged period of contact is minimal. The most is actually at home from a family member.

I thought the testing takes several days to report on infection, in the meantime people can still be contagious, its the arguement they used for not testing at airports.
 
The UFC returned last weekend. All of the staff, fighters, corner men etc arrived at the hotel 4 days before the event. They were tested by a qualified nurse upon arrival and quarantined for 24 hours (it takes 24 hours for their test results). All tests came back negative.

Everyone (300 people) were then tested every 24 hours. 1 person (a fighter) tested positive the day before the fight everyone else was negative (including his corner men, his opponent who he faced off against and the CEO who was next to him during the face off) They cancelled his fight and the rest of the event was carried out as normal. They have events scheduled for Wednesday, Saturday and Wednesday before going back to their normal schedule in June (4 events a month)

I suspect something similar will happen with the Premier League. I believe the Bundesliga players are now in a 7 day quarantine leading up to the restart on Saturday. Has anybody heard if they are “quarantined” throughout the rest of the season (like a fight camp)?

My brother in law had a test and result in 48 hours, I presume for a super-duper specific premier league service they can get it to 24 hours. It's all do-able, but the testing regime has to be rigourous.
 
The Guardian reporting that the maximum potential loss of broadcasting revenue is £762m. (Presumably if the season is just stopped). But, even with the Ersatz Football restart with kick offs at ten to ten on a Thursday morning, on a field near Burton on Trent, in an eco bubble, with regular analysis of snot, and no fans - the penalties in the broadcasting contracts will be between £300m & £350m

They are all arrive seperately they are all tested individually - before they come into contact with any other player on that day. First 4 test negative, okay off they go to training, the 5th tests positive, gets sent home and has had no contact with other players on that day because they are kept seperate, 6,7,8,9,10 etc all negative. Doesnt matter whether the 1 saw the others before Friday or not if the rest are negative on FRIDAY that means they dont have the virus. Could be the 1 is the goalie and never trained with the other players less than 2m apart ? For all we know they might end up training 2m apart, its possible.

A negative test does not guarantee your haven’t got the virus 🦠 testing in a controlled environment every 24 hours over 3 days will be more accurate
