And that’s exactly what will cost our club significant money.

Only if he doesn’t subscribe again once the football restarts. If Sky goes bust (they won’t btw) someone else will pick it up. The Premier League is too popular for it not to.

Would you carry on paying for something if you didn’t feel you were getting value for money? Of course you wouldn’t.

The Premier League could easily launch it's own streaming service and attracted millions of subscribers overnight. It wouldn't surprise me if that turned out to be more profitable than selling the TV rights to broadcasters.

Exactly, if there’s one business that isn’t going to lose out in the long run as a result of this it’s the Premier League and it’s members. We’re already pining for football and sport in general to come back and it’s only been a week.

The rumour is that's what the Premier league are going to do when the current TV deal runs out. It would probably be the end of sky. No one pays their expensive subscription fees to watch netball or rugby.

Has anyone tried to cancel/postpone BT sports and/or sky sports of their direct debit been as though there is no sport on TV ?
I was going to call today but wondering if anyone already has any feedback already ?

Sky have announced today that all commercial customers are having their bills frozen until live sport begins again. BT have announced a 2 week freeze to be reviewed dependant on what happens.

I'd hazard a guess that they'll do similar with domestic customers.

People bought train tickets and didn’t use them. Not their fault but not the fault of the train company either. There was nothing stopping people from still going to Newcastle and having a good day out. Many did. Sometimes unavoidable shit happens, it shouldn’t be all about making sure that you are ok & fuck everyone else.

Train companies charge hundreds of pounds just to transport you very short distances. In Europe, they go way further for cheaper. This happens to the extent that any sort of spontaneity is crushed by their exorbitant prices. No sympathy for them - their level of pricing should be illegal.

Still, don’t let something that has nothing to do with you involving someone else whose circumstances you know nothing about (and dismiss when presented with them) prevent you from trolling those who got a refund from these companies.

It seems you can now cancel Sky Sports. It's been reported as being able to "pause" your subscription, but people are being told it cancels your contract, and you lose any pricing deal you had (so Sky are effectively cashing in if people resubscribe).

Rather predictably, you can only do it over the phone, and because this is now news, there are queues for hours to get through. No way to do it online!

I'm not sure they fully thought that through, because if I spend hours on the phone, I'm cancelling the bloody lot!

I reckon by the time it’s over I’ll have started to recover from my football addiction. So, if they take the piss, I’ll be strong enough to hold out until they start offering me deals.

In circumstances like these I’m staggered that people are desperate to get refunds for stuff. A load of businesses will go bust in the next few months through no fault of their own. Still, lets just look after ourselves, eh?
Yes, let's look after ourselves firstly.

Some people don't know where the next penny is coming, be it the self employed, people who've invested in stocks and seen them plummet, or just people who are looking at time at home due to Corona related closures/job cuts - they need all the help they can get. The greedy corporations (I'm looking at you Sky/BT/Virgin) can fucking well refund us if we aren't getting what we paid for.

Same goes for United. If I can't get to another game this season due to this fucking thing I expect them to compensate us somehow.

Money doesn't grow on trees and some people could do with realising that.

Ryanair

Credit where it's due (and I hate these buggers), Ryanair are waivering all costs on flight changes. So i can actually change my March FA CUP flight to one in May for example free of charge.

I doubt i'll end up using that either tbh.

Bit of an old message but BT TV give you a credit on the Sports Packages (BT Sports and Sky Sports) so they cost you nothing at the moment. What did Sky offer ?
