The company has a policy on working from home, the odd day is fine, but working from home for what could be a few months would obviously need to be agreed.

When the government hasn’t issued any advice on closing places of work, why would that request be agreed?

People like me can't work from home. My work is outside and coming into contact with people.
My wife works in a call centre. Hard to see them closing contact centres (even though those places are a hub for passing on illnesses.)

I think we should stop panicking. Do what the experts ask if us. And stop buying 50 toilet rolls.

Where is all this spare equipment hidden at the moment?
The more valid question is when did the government place emergency orders for extra equipment and what have they done to help the suppliers/manufacturers to get the equipment produced in record time.
My guess is that they haven't done anything of the sort, but it's ok because they are closing the football grounds.

I can and I am, I’m talking in the hypothetical scenario of if I couldn’t, which plenty of people will be in.

Most police and NHS staff generally don't have long commutes, I'm sure those in essential jobs could get to work without public transport for a short period of time, whilst the rest of us stay at home.

Because footballs stadiums aren't infrastructure.

If you close down trains. buses, tube etc, people who work in hospitals can't get to work. Police can't get to work, people who run Vital national infrastucture can't get to work.
As I've posted before, tanking the economy isn't going to help anyone, it may cost more lives than the virus, but don't you think that targeting football smacks of hitting a low risk passtime just to show that they are doing something, whilst not making any real effort in areas where it could be more effective?
As much as it's necessary to keep public transport going, they could limit its use for work commutes only. It's a lack of effort to do anything other than give helpful advice, yet close football grounds, that makes me very cynical as to the decision they've taken on how to deal with this.

I don’t agree with the assertion that it’s low risk.

Nurses / doctors / pharmacies / NHS cleaners / van drivers delivering to NHS / van tyre/fuel/parts suppliers

Supermarket workers / food lorry drivers / lorry mechanics / food warehousemen / forklift truck engineers / van mechanics etc etc etc

Define 'essential'.....

Tut. Pharmacists.

Nope, but it should have read 'pharmacy staff'.

Anyroad, why are you wanting to rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic when you should be running up and down the street panicking and shouting "Coronavirus" at the top of your voice?

I'm on a tour of supermarkets panic buying. Telling pensioners, "wouldn't bother love"

Can you add to that list those in health and social care who provide care ( and some very complex specialised care may I add) for those living at home in the community

Given everyone’s looking at online solutions, how about to complete the season all twenty managers are thrown into an online game of Football Manager with the squads and tables as they are today.

The public are able to watch in real time as ahead of a game Wilder slowly moves the cursor to alter the formation to 4-4-2, before Alan Knill slaps his hand to stop it. Meanwhile, Spurs fans look on in horror as Mourinho issues Ndombole a fine for no reason whatsoever.

UEFA have just announced a teleconference for all countries on Tuesday to discuss all league, European and EURO 20 games !

Blanket approach from then maybe???

I posted this on another thread but surely it’s the best and fairest solution all round?

Can anybody see a down side?

“Rather than ruining this season, I would suggest suspending this season and playing the final 10 games in August (or as soon as possible).

Then make next season a half-season with only 18 matches. Split each division in two with the top ten playing each other home and away and the bottom ten likewise.

Repeat the process in every league and back to normal in August 2021”.

Players contracts and the transfer window could be an issue.
