Well done Blackpool, a fantastic achievement. Think they'll get seriously tonked on a regular basis next season, but that's the nature of the beast unfortunately.

Hope they make the most of any opportunities that come their way in the cheats league, and maybe just maybe create the odd shock against the big money scumbags that make up the Premier League (First Division)

:gallop:

They were more likely to be struck by lightening, or get a lottery win at the beginning of the season. Promotion is 'Roy of the Rovers', 'Billys Boots' and 'Billy the Fish' all rolled into one. But they deserved it and good luck to them. They will be the whipping boy, but they won't care.

(Cue many statements of 20/20 hindsight such as, 'Shows that you don't need money...', 'We should have got Holloway in for Blackwell...' etc etc...)

I think it shows how shit the league is - a league that's going to be even worse next season.
It's up for grabs for any club that gets itself organised.
So far we've extended the contract of a player already under contract - about our only contracted defender I think.
There could well be two or three 'Blackpools' in the top six next year.

Are you saying that you wouldn't want Holloway as the Blades manager instead of Blackwell.
Somebody who shows a little humility even when his team of so called relegation fodder misfits can produce good attacking football and are now about to join the Premiership.Massive praise to him. Even the Blackpool players admit that it is down to him that they have achieved so much this season.
Give Blackwell until October to prove he is up to the job.

Didn't want to disappoint you DD :)

It was another BIG mistake from McCabe employing cheap as chips in the first place................but then again is McCabe the culprit?, yes its McCabe either for being a cheapskate or incompetent.

Chairman'The Shutters are Down' McCabe has dropped a few very expensive clangers but it the manager who picks the team and dictates the style, or in our case non style, of how we play. Did a decent job to start with but thats it. Should have gone after the play off final.

But Blackpool could never be us
- fans would have moaned about Holloway being appointed in the first place (he took Leicester down we will be next etc)
- fans would have moaned about the style of play (all those goals we conceded etc)
- fans would have moaned about the signings (that DJ Campbell he is rubbish boo, boo, that Oremerod , he is too old, boo, boo)

Are you "Ashamed to be a Blade" a lot of the time BA?

Anyone feel sorry for Fleety this weekend :D

I bet he is getting an ear bashing

I dont get disappointed very often on here!

It is a remarkable achievement, and I do like Holloway, but he has come through adversity and failure to the mindset that he has today. He dropped lucky with Charlie Adam, (I know he would have hoped Adam settled in and did OK, but surely not in his wildest dreams did Ollie expect the impact he has had.) and to be fair, the rest of the squad were probably expecting little more than a relegation scrap. He's done what Warnock was good at, getting a team spirit going and achievied beyond the sum of its parts, which is pretty much the opposite of what he did to Leicester. Fair play to him.

What does all this prove? Simply that managers can be both successful and failures at different times of their career. They get too much praise when they are winning, and probably too much criticism when they are losing. Very few manage to achieve consistently. None of them are miracle workers. Good players, playing in a system they understand will deliver results. Injuries, loss of form and the biggest factor of all, what the opposition are doing, will all put spanners in the works. If you could write a formula for it, it wouldn't be worth watching...

Nice comment DD. A big part of "his" failure with Leicester was down to Mandaric employing 4 managers in one season, he walked into complete turmoil when he went there.

what a great game today and well done to Blackpool ....so nice to see a side keep going when they went a goal behind (twice).....last year it was pretty much game over once Burnley scored. Comedy defending from both teams tho' I wonder if Blackpool will stick with that back four (think they are losing one back to Everton anyhow) or spend some money chasing the dream. Hopefully Cardiff will implode now too. All in all a fairly good day:)

Got to agree, the turmoil was caused by Manderic being unable to find the right man and not being happy with what he was seeing.

His club paid for it with Relegation, but the pain is now over and Manderic seems happy with the current guy, 2 years in charge now, 1 promotion, 1 playoffs.

Can't believe it mate, thankfully, all my mates were down there yesterday (along with 30,000 bandwagoners) but yep, it's been hell. I don't think anyone can quite believe it, they've been rolling along for a few weeks laughing and joking then the reality seemed to hit them that they could actually do it. I'm sure reailty will hit them even more when the fixtures come out and they start wondering where the points are going to come from but hey, with £90M 'in the bank' they'll just enjoy the ride I'm sure.

It will be interesting to see who they bring in and just how much they're prepared to gamble and maybe more importantly, whether Holloway sticks to the style of play he's managed this season.

I'm in for a long Summer but at least we've got the World Cup which will take everyone's mind off things !

Are you "Ashamed to be a Blade" a lot of the time BA?

No raul, not really, i just sometimes think we judge too early on certain events, managers and players. I am certainly guilty of it and do think a lot of Blades are to a lesser or greater extent. I like many others criticised the signing of Cresswell yet he turned out a decent signing and could have an even greater impact next season.

Congrats to Blackpool, beat the Welsh cheats. Hopefully administration beckons for Risdale & Co once more. Mind you he normally manages to sneak himself out of the back door before that kicks off.

Think their promotion shows nothing more than its better to have a good team than a team of good individuals in the Championship. Problem is, when you hit the cheats league that just doesn't cut it.

Two games is too many.
