In his defence I'd say that's down to the fact he's trying to make a case to displace Fleck. Not an easy job for anyone. Very impressed nonetheless

Wholeheartedly agree.

As some have mentioned I think he would be a good option for us off the bench when we are struggling to unlock teams. Definitely a place for him in our squad IMO.

Great performance tonight and dare I say it way better than Berge...but that probably wont matter come Saturday.

Not.knocking Berge at all as we know it takes time to get up to Premiership speed but its giving Wilder a headache. In getting Berge up to speed we risk dropping points as on current form I'd argue Berge shouldnt be in the starting 11.

Can see him starting ahead of Lunny and Berge on Sat!

Wilder likes to reward performances like tonight!

Disagree, I feel starting Berge is the smart move. bringing Lunny on at 70 minutes has worked well for us recently.

Almost always one touch too many.

Good assist but variable quality for the most part.

UTB

He does like to take a lot of touches and sometimes slows play down when there’s no need to. He did well overall tonight though, showed he’s a decent player for us to have as cover for Fleck.

Should definitely be on the bench as an option to play a more attacking system with him in the “Duffy role”

Been banging this drum for a while now, would like to see him tried in the McGoldrick role. Not necessarily from the start, but at least just to mix it up with 25 mins to go. I think we could utilise him a lot more.

Outstanding tonight, as he was earlier in the season when Fleck was out.

It's a shame for him that Fleck is so consistently good, because he is unlikely to ever nail down a spot whilst that continues. Would love to see him play more often for us.

I know a lot of our game (too much at times) is based around creating overloads out wide and getting balls into the box, but would Luke Freeman on the right be out of the question? Him cutting inside might just create a little more space for Baldock / Basham to get deliveries in. It would at least keep defences guessing. At the moment they're just happy to show us to the outside & block.

Again, maybe it wouldn't work but I'd like to see us mix it up a bit like this and not be too predictable.

On the basis of tonight’s performance we definitely need another way of playing and just making straight substitutions isn’t going to cut it.

If Norwich get an early goal and then defend for their lives we could need a bit of something different. At the moment Freeman looks the only option we have to change the system.

If anyone thought he was going to silk or go through the motions there's your fucking answer.

What a performance, best player on the park. He looked hungry, lively, good delivery and he's class. What a privilege it is to have such squad depth. Stick around Like, reyt player.

Agree. Have a Luke.

As we're playing Norwich, a team we have previously done well against in the Championship, playing 3-4-1-2, why not just play Freeman in front of Fleck and Norwood?

It's not as if we are unfamiliar with that formation.

In fact the flat 3 with Norwood deeper is an adjustment this year from what was tried and tested the past 3 years.

We have 40 points now. We are at home and in matches where we need to take more initiative at home

If this were away then I'd all be for Berge.

But for me, and to sponsor some level of meritocracy, I see this as a game we can play 3-4-1-2 and where Freeman gets a chance to break through.

I like the fact he gets involved. If I remember rightly, with both goals down the left he had a hand in both.

Pick him there vs Norwich and then pick the game after based on merits and the standard of opposition. It's not as if Norwich are a hulking big side that knock you around.

Great on the ball and he’s a much more tenacious midfielder than I was expecting when we signed him—always willing to tackle back. But. He doesn’t come deep and show for the ball the way Fleck does—or at least not as often. Too often our back three had no passing option besides a long hoof. That wasn’t just Freeman’s fault, it’s on all of the midfield three. But it’s something he needs to work on. Overall our best player tonight.

No more drums, please.
