If you’re going up into the city which is around 8 mins walk from the station if you walk up the hill past the Howard, you can if you like experience a time travelling “sort of” drink in a pub called the brown bear, you won’t be allowed in with football shirts on, you wont be able to have your phone out, you also can’t sing or listen to music, you can talk - not too loudly though, nothing more nothing less, the beer is really cheap it’s like going back in time, welcome travellers ! (Don’t think kids can go in either)

There are two other pubs close by, and you’re then five minutes from the Benjamin huntsman (witherspoons), where away fans are always in and can come in with shirts on, as was said earlier, come for fun and you’ll have it, come for something else and....

Wouldn’t recommend for you.. or any away fan in a shirt...

All these top recommendations really highlight how brilliant it is being a Blade.

Wonderful choice of ale houses and places to eat all a short walk from the ground. Can any where in the country beat it for choice, variety and price? I don’t think so.

Not too many clubs can come anywhere near close nowadays and the numbers are dwindling as soulless new stadia keep getting built.

I would recommend the Stag - but I don’t want any more fuckers queuing in front of me!

Graduate on Surrey St and the Museum on Leopold st are the best for proper away fans. You wont have the same difficulty getting bitter up here as I did in Brighton.

What you've done this season is clearly amazing, great to see three Albion players succeeding. Norwood was always outstanding for us as was Paul Watson.

Group of 10 of us (no children) arrive into your fine city at just before midday, what pubs would you recommend?

Preferably a mixture of home and away, thinking proper pub with decent beer that isn't a massive chain.

Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season after Saturday, it's great seeing clubs outside the Sky love in do well.

I went in a lot, certain that and the travs at oughtibrige were “Humphrey’s” the way he treats the managers of those places is unreal though..

Didn't think it was always Sam Smith's although I could be wrong haven't been in for a while but plan to now didn't realize travellers was used to be a Whitbread's pub year's ago a lot of my youth was spent from stocky to oughtibridge happy day's

If you walk out of the station as a group of 10, SYP will make that decision for you. The Howard and The Globe are usually the stock choices for away fans. But if you walk up the hill towards town The Graduate is also very popular with away supporters and my personal favourite the Head of Steam is another 35 yards on from that near the crucible. To be fair getting to Sheff at midday doesn’t leave you much time to explore. But if you get a couple o cabs up to the Cremourne on London Road, my mate will buy you all a drink.

Go out of the back of the station and jump on the next tram going left to west street stop. Plenty of pubs there and then 15 min walk to ground.

Definitely don’t go in the Roebuck. Some Spurs fans ventured in before the semi final a few years ago and lasted all of about ten seconds.

They were daft enough to start singing and bouncing in the middle of the pub though....that was a fun night

I worked in Brighton in the mid 1970's.

I had many an enjoyable night in the Spanish Lady in Saltdean.

Went there after the match last December as a friend of mine lives 5 minutes walk away. Myself, Mrs Silent and my son stayed at his house for the Saturday night.

I'd second this suggestion, Heeley Bottom is great for pre-match drinking and we've often got talking with away fans before and after games.

The Crown shows football and is a good pub with good beer, miss the red lion it's a dump, the white lion is a great old traditional pub with a good selection of beer and is a music hub, as is the brothers, the Brothers and the sheaf are in the back streets, if it's raining or cold, avoid the brothers cos it'd be packed and head straight to the sheaf, probably one of the best selection of beers in Sheffield.

Nothing wrong with Heeley Bottom, everyone’s friendly around there, don’t see any “likely lads” away fans more than welcome. All our “likely lads” are on London road/town centre. Heeley bottom is probably one of the safest areas for an away fan to drink in although you don’t actually get many venturing up that area as you’d have to be arriving by car and have it advised to you by a local as a decent area before games.

Agreed, couple of cabs from station 5 minute ride to Heeley plenty of good pubs, no hassle then a 10 minute walk to The Lane. Happy days!
