Just wear it anyway bonnet de douche and call it a “lucky shirt”. I suspect that’s what Roygbiv did, wearing the Colombia shirt he bought jumping the gun in anticipation of Hamilton Ricard’s United debut.

Funnily enough I was recently reading the programmes from that season we were linked with Ricard. We obviously never got him so settled for Jon Cullen instead.

My memory may be playing tricks, or possibly still recovering from the trauma, but was it the aftermath of the Deane/JAF double sale that the Ricard links first emerged? That might be the same time as Cullen (and Derry?) signed. All I vaguely remember is all of this talk we were investing big in Ricard to make up for the recent fire sale of strike talent, only for him to suddenly turn up at Middlesbrough. Next we know we’re signing no strikers and loaning the shadow of Ian Rush to be our new striker. Whenever Ricard eventually turned up at the Lane with Middlesbrough I remember him having the sort of game that rivalled Akinbiyi that time he featured for Wolves. Great times.

Ricard was lined up to sign but McDonald and his wife were spat on at a demonstration at BDTBL and McDonald subsequently pulled the plug on any funding.

As it happens I already have ( not gonna fkin buy a shirt coz somebody signs for us from his old club ....how bizarre would that be ) a Honved and a Dukla Prague kit ..and seeing as Dukla don’t exist anymore ..this is the only chance I have left ...

Anyway ....you just take 5 for half an hour

I suspect the programme has never since been allowed to do that! You could almost use that in itself as an example of the chaos we’d arrived at that season. Bit-In-Programme is worse than the modern day leaked photo-in-shirt.

It’s a HMHB thing ...I also ave a Borussia monchengladbach Tracky Top ....hey we might play them in the europa league next year
