Sharp

Anyone hoping to become Blades boss should travel the path of Chris Wilder. Learn the job from the bottom up, prove themselves beyond all doubt and come back. Sharpy, Bash and Jags must all be contenders, but to think they can step up without an apprenticeship else where would be a risk. The club will always be here and I'm sure would welcome any of them back as boss, once they've proved themselves.

An absolute legend and I’ve an inkling he will have a part to play tomorrow

Just a hunch based on noting in particular but I think jagielka and sharp will be our wilder/knill in a years to come.

I Saw an interview with Billy,he said he wanted to finish at the top and would rather play footy with his mates than drop down the leagues.
He might get a kick tomorrow what with the busy fixture list....hope so.

I would think Sharp will always have a role while Wilder is the gaffer,if of course he wants it.
I dont think Sharp is ready to retire yet and will play at a lower level for a few years.
Wouldnt surprise me though if he came back especially if Wilder his here.
Wilder and Sharp must get on well as Billy is tolerating being benched like he is! I will be surprised if it stays the same beyond this season.
2 legends together that's how you build a boot room.

There are four of them with Knill and Jags.

Great basis to build a bootroom around and I've stated elsewhere we should copy the Shankley model whilst we have this great opportunity.

Fuck character. It’s a cliche.

Character will ONLY take you so far.

Ability, proven, dependable, statistically beyond reproach ability will always endure.

FACT.

hardwork beats ability if ability doesn’t work hard.

wilder constantly talks about the importance of character when he looks in to and makes a signing.

if you want to disagree then fine but you are wrong

I would think he will see out this season with us, hopefully we stay up, but clearly he is not going to get much game time etc.
If I was him I would then look for another club for a couple of years in the Championship, must be frustrating training all week, then not playing on a Saturday
Personally I would rather play then sit on the bench for the next year

You have confused hard work with character.

It’s different !!!

There’s no denying your other bit, but that wasn’t the point I made 👍.

The reason he has less minutes is because the others are significantly better all round players. That's not being negative about him, just being honest.

Significantly ????

That’s subjective in the extreme !!

UTB
Yes, I'd say significant enough to justify the current pecking order. At the start of the season I thought he could or even should have been given more of a chance. Now, given the performances of the others his position is clear and justified.

Your opinion is duly noted. Wilders appears to agree !

I feel he could have another couple of seasons leading the line for a championship club. I know he’s a club legend and will always be welcomed back. But surely he needs to get out and play football.

it’s all interlinked as far as I’m concerned think we are debating a dead point

I don't think there are many games for Billy this season. But this would have been one, with a team likely to sit deep and the need to rotate around a heavy period for fixtures. But McBurnie did well at BHA, so it's understandable he started. Still with all those corners and free kicks, would have been good to see him at the end. Still the player most likely to get into a knockdown or anticipate a 2nd ball.

Agree. I think billy would have netted today

It’s not.

I chose the word character.

You chose to use hard work as it’s direct replacement. Why ?

It’s all too common on ere. People see what they want to see and read what they want to read !

Wilders treatment and use of Sharp this season (and previously IMHO) has to come in to question.

How much longer until he no longer makes the bench ?

Could be an interesting JTW.

Likewise.
Playing teams that sit deep it doesn't matter that Billy is not much of a sprinter cos we build up slow anyway.
Just needed someone who can get onto the ball in a crowded area. And that's Billy's speciality

If there was ever a time for Billy to come on it was the last 20 mins today - Didsy was knackered - I really can't understand why he's getting named on the bench if CW is not going to use him in the ideal situation - maybe there are plans afoot in JTW

Pretty sure Sharp confirmed on Poundshop Partridge earlier in the year that he was already in the process of sorting out his coaching badges.

Sharp maybe, but not a Didz replacement - believe it or not Duffy would have fitted like a glove today, he would have broken them down.

I would suggest that how hard you work is interlinked with character .... for example we often here said: the fact he/she works hard despite the conditions speaks volumes about his/her character...

anyhow you take your view I will take mine... Blades are going well that’s all that matters

I work hard, but have fuck all character, which I assume is abundantly clear to one and all 👍.

Duffy who can’t get a game at the bottom of the Championship with a club who want to end his loan early?
