Lundstram's transformation

What’s his contractual situation?

We’re usually quick to reward players who step up, and he’s gone from middling Championship standard to bossing the Premier League. Kerrching?

I think he's out of contract at the end of this season but I would imagine the way hes playing he'll be in contract talks as we speak. Hope so anyway, otherwise we stand to lose an important player who is still only 25.

Always thought there was a good player in there. I think a big difference is that he’s lost some timber, seems fitter and he’s obviously taking notice of what the management are telling him. Some players may have sulked not playing, but it shows he’s got the right mental attitude and determination. Good on yer mate, keep it going.

From the BBC writeup:

"This is just the ninth occasion a Sheffield United player has scored two or more goals in a Premier League game, with John Lundstram the first to do so since Nathan Blake against Newcastle in April 1994"

...fuck me senseless.

LEGEND.
Who are the others (apologies if answered as I’ve not got to the end of the thread)
Blake (mentioned)
Deane (Ipswich hat trick)
Whitehouse ?
Scott (Chelsea) ? Or that might have been div one actually

The only others I can think of were Booker, Davison, Lake, and Bryson but in the old div one

If he continues to play at this level, without doubt he should be offered a new long term contract, still astonished how he has improved after hardly kicking a ball last year in the championship
Good luck to him, looks a class act at the moment

We will give him a new deal in January and, if he scores 10+ this season, he will go to Man Utd for £50m and be on a £150k per week deal for 5 years, they will then sack Ole and he will pop up at Derby at the end of his contract having played 5 times for Man Utd + 1 England cap ! Bloody agents

Deane 2 v Man U and 3 v Ipswich
Bryson 2 v Spurs
Whitehouse 2 v Chelsea
Littlejohn 2 v Spurs
Flo 2 v Southampton and Liverpool
Blake 2 v Newcastle

I knew I could rely on you. How could I forget the Flo double at Anfield. I couldn’t recall the scorers in the Spurs drubbing. We’re still missing a couple. Anyone?

Deane and Flo did it twice = 4
Bryson, Whitehouse, Littlejohn and Blake = 4

Lundstram's brace was the 9th time it happened for the Blades

Remember when he USED to pass and give the ball away all the time wtf happened to him ? Unbelievable transformation.

Go Lundstraaaaaaahm, on the commentary. Bet if he played for Man Ure, Chelskie or Arsewipe they’d get his name right. Fucking cunts.

In a weird sort of way he's actually evolved to being the complete midfielder.

Absolutely cements players in the tackle.
Big physical presence.
Very disciplined defensively.
Gets up and down.
Capable of pin point assists.
Finishes like Shearer, often first time.

If at the end of last season someone told you Wilder's plan to stay up was by replacing Duffy with Lundstram, this message board would have been on fire!

Unreal what this player and manager are achieving. And he's doing it again with Moose!

When he had a regular run of games two seasons ago he had the highest stats for "completed passes" in the team. But that was because his speciality was passing it 2 yards to the nearest player. On top of that he;d try the occasional "TC" 70 yarder, that would go off the end of his boot like a wayward firework. What's happened to him, I think, is that he's matured a lot and listened to the good coaching and advice he's been given. He's also got a bit more physical strength to him. I thought he had a good game yesterday, I particularly liked his coolness in front of goal - our strikers could learn something from that! It was inevitable I suppose that he'd get the MOTM yesterday because of those goals - but for my money McGoldrick was the best player on the park.

You’ve lost your money. A midfielder notches two of your three goals in a 3-0 Premier League win. That’s your man of the match. No question. Fleck, JOC, Moose and Egan were also ahead of Didsy.

So far so good 👍

If I copied all the stuff I got right (including my review of the Stoke game where I was the first to predict the future Lunny, oh how the numpties laughed...) there’d be no room for anyone else.

That’s because it’s populated by knee-jerkers, single-cells and purveyors of noise and nonsense who demonstrate repeatedly and conclusively that they haven’t a fucking clue.

During the summer , I wrote on here my concerns that we didn't have this type of player in our team/squad as most premier league teams do. Wilder it seems hadn't noticed this gap and went on striker spree instead.

Not in my wildest dreams did I think Lundstram would be that man although I guess he gave us a 45 minute cameo of what was to come at Stoke

Nope. It's all about personal opinions. And I think the person who made the biggest all round contribution to the game yesterday was McGoldrick, closely followed by Fleck imo. But if you count contributions only in goals then it's Lundstram of course. They all played well to be fair.

Scoring Goals is the object of the game. Key contributions leading to goals rightly attract a premium in assessing a performance.

Lunny contributed a great deal more than ‘only’ goals.

Didsy had a fantastic game. I ❤ quality footballers and he is just that. But fantastic was the mean for our boys yesterday. Others surpassed that. Jonny Egan was a wall. JOC flawless. Moose an electric eel. Fleck at his very best, driving forward with purpose.

Some opinions are more accurate than others, that’s inevitable... 😄
