Lundstram's transformation

Lundstram deserves praise for his performances this season, but I think a lot of the praise is over the top.

Because McBurnie cost £20m the expectations were high, so his ok performances are being viewed as wank by some and he’s getting written off already. Lundstram in contrast was being talked about this summer as losing the number 7 shirt and maybe leaving. With rock bottom expectation, his solid 6 or 7 out 10 performances are being talked up as if we’ve got a future legend at the club.

If we are still a Premier League club next season I have doubts Lundstram will be a regular starter, I’m certain he won’t be if we’re still in this league the 21/22 season. Let’s not forget Wilder was apparently willing to spend £20m+ on Sander Berge.
 



I think some people must be watching with anti-Lundstram vision engaged because he's easily been our best player in a couple of games this season (excluding goal scorers who will always remain at the forefront of your mind), he has two Premier League man of the match awards I believe and there are probably 5 in line to be dropped before him.

A consistent 7-7.5/10 every week bare minimum.

I've always thought he was a good player, but I admit come Bournemouth I was a bit disappointed to see him in the starting XI over Freeman, he's proved everyone wrong and then some though. He'd be the last of our midfielders to get dropped right now.
 
Just watching the Arsenal again for the umpteenth time. Who is this new player we've signed at number 7 ?
Looks a reyt player, big, strong, fit, good ball player, hungry and determined.

Freeman's a reyt player. Love to see more of him. He'll get his chance over course of season
 
I think the I told you so camp is over hyping his performances. And that's from someone who didn't write him off.

He's been good but still the first of the three I would look to improve on.
 
As far as I am concerned when he first came in to the side he showed nothing to suggest he would turn into the player he now is. It was nothing to do with him not being a Paul Coutts (as some suggest). He seemed slow, a bit overweight and clumsy, frequently gave the ball away and generally looked out of his depth. I could not see why the hell we had bought him. Last season he again showed very little although he was clearly leaner and fitter.
I never ever dreamy he would turn into the Lunny of this season. He has been a complete revelation. Very fit, great engine, seems to have enough pace, great at defending but definitely box to box as he goal against Palace showed plus his passing! That fabulous ball to the Mousse at Everton and loved that little back heel last weekend at West Ham. What's more he has still not reached probably his optimum age. If he keeps on progressing at the same rate he may yet play for England. Brilliant scouting and coaching by PM, CW, and AK.

Steady on pal! It's only been 10 matches, he's not turned into the next Steven Gerrard just yet.

There's 5 players who are well ahead of him imo.

I mean, let's give Lundstram the credit he deserves - absolutely. But let's not go over the top and exaggerate to that extent. The lad has done great, but he still isn't amongst the best of our players and hasn't been the most outstanding player in any game so far.

Your probably right taking games individually but he has been really consistent and if he continues to improve which he is doing every game he will be up there by May.
We havnt seen the best of him yet ,he reminds me of G Cockerall full of energy and aggression he was a late developer too

No mate. I can't see much likeness to Glen Cockerill. His neck's too long for a start.
 
How is Lunny not Lunny no more ?

He’s like a new signing and long may it bloody continue .
