You're better off not worrying about anyone else this stage of the season and concentrating on your own results. Planning your season around avoiding relegation is a sure-fire way of getting entangled in it. Benny's post above yours shows what's possible when you go about your own business and fuck the rest.

You are right logically. But emotions are not logical. I would have been a hopeless football manager.

I know exactly where you’re coming from. We can slip 3 places today, but in actual fact that would probably be the ideal scenario.

We won our first 3 games (Southampton H, Leeds H, Everton A from memory) and were top for 10 games or so, even after losing at Old Trafford. Man Utd however did knock us off the top not long afterwards.

Actually we won the 3 you mention plus Arsenal away. In total we won 8 of the first 10 and drew the other 2. We were top well into October 1971.

Glynn Hodges goal at Notts County was an absolute cracker.
The less said about Mervyn Day's performance at Selhurst Park the better. Most entertaining bit of the day was the stadium announcer thanking the two or three Blades who were swinging on the crossbar when it broke.

We've had a very good start to the season, and been difficult to beat. I'm surprised and happy that we find ourselves in the top half. But abit mindful that there are alot of teams around the 10-13 point mark. So we could find ourselves hovering around the lower middle/bottom 6 after another 3 games. Our next 3 games are:-

Burnley (h)
Spurs (a)
Man Utd (h)

I would be very happy with a return of 4 points from those games. Obviously a win against Burnley and hopefully a point either from spurs or man utd.
Although we could probably lose against Burnley and get a win against either spurs or man utd such is the unpredictability of the league this year.

Whenever you start to get 'realistic' about our chances in a fixture this season Chris Wilders Blades ( first time I've ever used that , what are things coming to ) manage to match or better the opposition with reasonable comfort. If we can stay injury free and we find a strikers partnership that hits its stride I see no reason that our performances and results cannot improve further. 7-9 points from next three games.
