A bloke quipped on the way out 'I saw the Liverpool scout trembling with fear'.
Actually that might have been the plan lull them into a false sense of security......

Don't even mention about ringing up to purchase a ticket. I was sat on the phone waiting for over an hour for a ticket yesterday. Abysmal. Premier League club. League one ticketing system.Only 4 terminals so they can only process 4 at a time best to get your ticket earlier in the day or previously on line or by phone.
Most clubs now have ticketing systems with no pay on the gate.I would never turn up pre - match to buy a ticket.
If a thousand people turn up to buy tickets say half an hour pre kick off ! No way will they all see kick off.
The days are long gone when thousands turn up at cash turnstiles, amazing really how clubs used to do it say with a crowd of 30k plus.
On a serious note, I'm hoping one of the stadium improvements will be introducing 'print your own tickets' or e-tickets on your phone.
ahh the glory days when we were all enthralled by the dulcet tones of James Morrison and Broken stringsI used to when I had a job. Cost me nowt to have the phone on hold for ten minutes whilst I carried on typing. Have a quick chat ‘sorry, I haven’t got my customer number with me. Yeah, my address is....’
Job done, couple of days later, tickets in envelope through my letterbox. No logging in, no printing, they’re just there, lying on the carpet.

to be fair though there no reason for this palaver anymore you could have a card and order online and go to a dispenser enter booking reference or scan a QR code and that would print out a ticket similiar to the cinema.
mind you we still cant get a decent signal in the faraday cage of a ground

Spent 10 mins before that getting "line busy" after one hour I'd gone from number 15 to number 5.. ended the call. So I never got a ticket. Think about it, if multitudes of people are hanging up due to the stupendous wait times.. we must be losing hundreds of ticket sales!Yeah I initially called to check about the ticket arrangements, couldn't get through, then got 'your call is number 15'. Five minutes later, after moving up to 14, I gave up. This was on the day of a League Cup match!
Is it always that bad? I can't get to many games and this was my first for a while. Thought the League Cup would be fairly low stress, easy. £15 ticket, very nice (thank you club). I arrived in plenty of time and then had to queue for 25 minutes to get my ticket and took my seat just as the Sunderland goal went in. Apparently we were good up to then. The match was bobbins, fair enough, it happens and we've been spoiled lately. But I was a bit taken aback that the ticket office couldn't seem to cope with an 11,000 gate and loads of us missed a good chunk of the first half. Fair play to the Sunderland fans, who turned out in numbers and created an atmosphere.
