Ticket Office last night

You're having a dig at the club when you turned up at 720pm to collect your ticket for a game that kicked 25 minutes later, when tickets have been on sale for about 3 weeks?

Yes. I presume you read my reasons why.

I went on a walking course yesterday, the instructor was from Harrogate and not happy at all about it, said it’s caused massive problems in the town.

It has. It will be interesting to see how the local media covers it. I've spoken to quit e a few local businesses and they are mainly furious.

Bad luck if you live in Ripon and work in Harrogate as the Ripon Road is closed EVERY day of the races from morning to night. Other than that the roads have been mainly empty all week. Bliss. Never driven up the Skipton and Wetherby Road so quickly.

I live on the Ripon Road.

I have now. ;)

The only thing that the club could do differently IMO is to produce the ability for "Print at home" tickets. A lot of clubs do this already.

I was due in Masham yesterday to visit Black Sheep Brewery but the customer cancelled due to the racing

It's the fact that the club are not getting the basics rights that frustrates people. Spent 25 mins in the queue for ticket collections only to find out that the tickets had not been printed. Then having to wait again in the ticket office queue.

A bloke quipped on the way out 'I saw the Liverpool scout trembling with fear'.
If I was the scout that Liverpool had sent to watch us I'd be worried about my job. Sending him to watch us play in the league cup given the changes we make is akin to sending the new kid for a long stand or Tartan paint. If he's an experienced guy then they clearly don't like him much or value his feedback.

In this digital age where I can pay for stuff with my phone, the notion of queuing to pick up a paper ticket seems so antiquated... Even more so when you consider you use the barcode on the printed paper ticket!!!
...and people still use a telephone to purchase tickets 😅😅😅you couldn't make it up😅😅😅

Didn't they let you go to the front of the buying queue after cocking up?

I live just off Knaresborough road and I' ve rarely seen it so quiet. It is actually easier to get into town than normal from my side of town.

I have a lot of sympathy for businesses in town. I know of a hairdresser who has next to no bookings for the whole week. I personally blame the lack of business on a lot of the local residents who have been informed re road closures for several weeks, haven't bothered to look at the leaflets, and now the event is on, assume it's impossible to get into town.

As for obtaining tickets at Bramall Lane, and other grounds I imagine, purchasing on the day is very frustrating - the only answer is to turn up super early but that's well nigh impossible for fans who either live or work outside the city.

We has the Tour de France too and it was far more popular than this. Shopkeepers are fuming, it goes on for 9 days and takings are down.

That came very close to where I am as well on both the days it was in Yorkshire in 2014. Didn't close our street that time and I got some great photos and enjoyed it as a one-off.

But now they're having them every year it can be a pain, not just if your road is closed but if you're going on any journeys you have to check the route and often that info is spread across multiple sites - west yorks, north yorks council sites etc. The police on motorbikes are getting pretty damn good at these rolling closures though which reduces the impact a lot.

Me too. Apart from anyone having to use the Ripon Road, there's a massive amount of overkill. Someone told me last week they can't go out because the Skipton Road is closed for the whole nine days. It's actually closed for an hour and a half on one day, tomorrow!
Went into town yesterday and it was deserted in the main shopping area. Apart from hotels, not sure if all this extra income is going to benefit local businesses.

Nope, I did question the steward but he was having none of it.

Second time for me this season that the card hasn't been linked and tickets not printed. Both occasions I've missed the opening 25 mins despite getting there well in advance.

Or make constructive suggestions to how things can be improved.

Not everyone can arrive with loads of time to spare.

I know, but you can't turn up 15 minutes before K.O. without a ticket then moan about missing sed K.O.

In this day and age though it shouldn't be an issue.

Phones, printers at home, even machines like at the cinema that print out your ticket, could all be used to assist fans.

I used to when I had a job. Cost me nowt to have the phone on hold for ten minutes whilst I carried on typing. Have a quick chat ‘sorry, I haven’t got my customer number with me. Yeah, my address is....’

Job done, couple of days later, tickets in envelope through my letterbox. No logging in, no printing, they’re just there, lying on the carpet.

lol my father in law's like that. He's got broadband but if he wants to know how much wire netting for his garden is at B&Q he'll ring them up :)
I kind of get that, I like to ask people sometimes, especially if I’m not sure what I want exactly or, when it comes to IT, what the proper name for something is but a lot of shop assistants these days are complete idiots. I probably wouldn’t trust someone at B&Q to give me the right price.

I had problems with a computer, the office download code I’d bought didn’t work. So I called Curry’s helpline and was advised to go into my local store as it would take the helpline two weeks to sort it out. I went to my local store who took the best part of an hour fucking around, including talking to the helpline on the phone. They took the card off me, sent it back to the helpline people who then sent me a replacement. It took two weeks plus three hours of my day to go to Westfield Curry’s, find out their instore helpdesk didn’t open for another two hours, drive to Brentford, spend an hour with those fuckwits....

Everything just seems so complicated these days.

Membership cards (if you have one) can be pre-loaded with purchased tickets. No paper/printing needed. Scan your card at the turnstile. It's worth it just for the frisson of excitement to see if the turnstile light turns green or red.

Except when your a season ticket holder and they close the Kop and cannot load your season ticket with a south stand ticket......... one of the reasons the attendance were so low, people can't be arsed with that.

Pretty shocking that you have to suffer twice because of their errors. Totally out of order.

It just seems clubs don't cater for walk-up fans. I totally understand life is easier for everyone if they book early, and I do if I can, but at times I just get the urge and the opportunity to see a match at short notice yet I get the impression the club would rather I didn't bother.
