Final update. Interest in Chambers has been there all summer, but never pursued as it appeared he might get a proper chance at Arsenal. Now appears he wonā€™t if Arsenal get the signings they want, so a season long loan is being discussed. Will depend on Arsenal seeing there deals through though. Daniel Amartey is a strong option no 2. Another midfielder could be in too, but the options there stretch to three or four, not sure on names as things change by the hour. All gets really interesting and intense now as one move starts a chain of events. The keeper situation drags on with the legal wrangles, might happen, might not. A couple of back up options being discussed along with a couple of free agents. Enjoy the next 24 hours. Good time to be a Blade. Enjoy the season. UTB.
Just been on SPN ā€œ theyā€™ve all gone ā€˜t Villa wii Zahaā€

Hereā€™s one piece of business looking like itā€™s happening.

You can also pick up a 40 year old Julian Speroni.

Speroni would not be a bad shout for a cheap backup GK, would trust him between the sticks v man u. I assume he wouldn't want it though. I'd have thought he was well settled in london or could be looking to move back to argentina who knows

Because Wilderā€™s said we need 3 senior keepers and we only have 2? And because last time we were at this level we had a woefully inadequate 3rd choice keeper?

Who the fuck is that?

Weren't the Lesser Greens looking at George to replace Tierney?

You may remember him from such adventures as Middlesbrough 3-1 United and United 1-1 Pompey, the latter of which saw us drop 2 points after a horrific defensive error by a combination of our 3 choice keeper and Claude Davis.

But Iā€™m sure 3 choice keepers arenā€™t important, particularly in a season when 1 point (or indeed 1 goal) could be the difference on whether the team stays up or not...

All depends on injuries and suspensions I suppose but saying that we have Jags to fall back on.

Of course luck with injuries and suspensions can help you having to use your 3rd choice keeper. But the lesson from that is to probably not go with a youth keeper as the third choice.

Now you might say ā€œhang on LB, arenā€™t you basically making the same mistake by suggesting Lonergan on a free?ā€, to which Iā€™d answer that Lonergan was always an upper-Championship keeper than a lower-Championship one in Gerrard. Paul Gerrard wasnā€™t also taken along on tour by the PL runners up in the season before he was our 3rd choice.

No i wasn't saying that, in fact i'd not seen that pal. I'm happy with Deano/Moore/Jags.

So who were our 3 GKs that year? Kenny, Gerrard and Bennett? Did all 3 play?

Callum Chambers would be an outstanding option at RCB.

No go on Holgate then?
Saw somewhere that Everton have put a Ā£10m price tag on him and any deal would be a perm on instead of a loan

If Tierney goes to the Arse and thatā€™s looking likely then surely that frees chambers up ,Would be a terrific signing imo
BBC gossip page is also suggesting that David luiz might sign for arsenal for Ā£8m. That and Tierney would deffo free up chambers for a move to us.

No it wouldn't. Chambers is not a left back/left wing back anyway and Arsenal are still short on DFM/CB.
