Neal Maupay

Neal Maupay to Brighton. Benrhama gone to Villa. Could be a long season for the Bees. They're two big losses.

As posted previously, I'm pretty sure ourselves and Brighton had deals agreed with Brentford and Maupay, but he hung on for something bigger (Villa, West Ham, Palace...), when it never came through he came back to ourselves & Brighton. We'd moved on. They hadn't.

I don't think I agree with people thinking Villa will do a Fulham. Their signings have been impressive.
Fulham's signings were impressive, but they ruined the chemistry.

Benrahma quite significantly changes the way I look at Villa's business.

They've now added an additional serious goal threat, which was needed as I don't think their defence looks great.

Outstanding from Benrahma to get a move like this after less than one proper full season in the Championship. And yes, outstanding from Brentford again too.

Which ones in particular do you think have been impressive?

Mings, Targett, Jota & Benrahma. Heaton is also a solid Premiership goalkeeper. They've also hung onto Grealish & McGinn, the heartbeat of their team.

I don't know a great deal about their other signings (Trezeguet, or Luiz) & the loss of Tammy Abraham will hurt them, but I think their business has been solid and the spine of their team that finished last season so strongly remains relatively in tact.

They're also rumoured to be trying hard to bring in Kalvin Phillips who would be a great signing for us.

I think they'll be fine this year.

Mings was with them last season so I’m not sure he can be included really. Targett certainly isn’t anything special and they really overpaid for him. Jota is decent but I can see Benrahma struggling to make the step up.

You were talking about signings so Grealish and McGinn are irrelevant to the point.

The rest are complete unknowns who could be world beaters or complete flops. Like someone said on here the other day, they’ve spent a lot of money just to get in the players they had last season on loan.

Mings should be included, as he's one of their signings which is what you asked me about.

We disagree on Benrahma, as I think he is a player with great potential who will go well in the Prem, as too will Jota (whom I believe we preferred to Luke Freeman).

They've also strengthened with Heaton & Konsa, the young Brentford lad, at the back and Targett is a good Premiership full back too. Whether or not they overpaid doesn't really matter, they can afford to do it & the objective is survival.

I think with those additions & the fact they've hung onto their best players means they'll probably do quite well. 12-15th.

Will piss mi sen if we stay up this season and the mighty Brighton get relegated.

His loss. Im more than happy with 'the Burn' (who is a better character and playing style for us anyway) and the Moose. Hopefully the Moose will blow his fellow countryman out of the water this season with his performances for us.

Be interesting to see what the fee is seeing that they will not accept any less than 20m .

I would have loved us to sign Morepay however if his heart was not in it then so be it . Both Mau and McBurnie are gambles but both deffo have the potential to crank it up a level . Time will tell .

Agree about the fee. He would have been coming here for the wrong reasons and his heart clearly wasnt in it. We only want players who want to be at the Lane.

It is weird how all the Brentford fans seem to think he’s leaving for Brighton but there’s still not been an offer.
Wonder if Banana is on the Brighton forum advising them that their club needs to make an offer if they are serious.
He announced the other day that according to his inside knowledge BFC have now increased the asking price to 25 million.

Regards Oli and Maupay, think Maupay is a better goal poacher but McBurnie has a more allround game and is different to our other strikers.
Also as already mentioned....Wilder always goes on about wanting hungry players keen to join us.....so if Maupay prefers the south coast then he wasn’t right for us.

I'll miss it too. I think all the Bees have now flounced, the big mardy bums.

Er...........no I didn't.

Er...........no I didn't.

What you did do, despite my best endeavours to educate you, was to consistently claim that Brentford, fucking Brentford and fucking Brentford alone, could defy the well-established laws of football economics. They can’t.

No I didn't, and no you didn't. Look at our accounts. Best of luck.
