Neal Maupay

Today Brentford had 15 shots with only 3 shots on target compared to Birminghams 1 shot with 1 on target.

Match result:
Tipped for promotion Brentford 0
Tipped for relegation Birmingham 1

Clinton Morrison’s match review on Sky Sports was Brentford just need a striker who can put away chances.
Basically they need a Neal Maupay......where was he? Not even on the subs bench. You couldn’t t make it up ha ha.
Someone at Brentford has blundered....they thought they were in the driving seat waiting for all the big offers to role in.
Clubs are interested but not at the price set by Brentford.......it will be interesting to see Brentford’s next move.
They really need to keep him or find a top replacement otherwise it will be bottom half for The Bees this season.

Yes, but it was another victory for the business model.

Made me laugh that.
You’ll not believe this....but on their forum their ITK Banana told everyone that Brentford have their own internal transfer deadline, which is set 1 week before the official date. He inferred that Maupay is now staying at Brentford, unless they receive an offer they can’t refuse, starting at 25 million.

Just don’t understand their logic.....they create plenty of chances but don’t have any goal scorers apart from Maupay
But they choose to let him go back to France to get his head straight and don’t play him in any pre season friendlies or league matches,
But let’s not forget they are under no financial pressure to sell. Don’t want to sell but would rather wrap him up in cotton wool instead of using his goalscoring services.
Anyone would think they’ve had some bids......but apparently still not a single bid for Maupay over the Summer.

If it was all basically agreed (bar the player's acceptance), what is there to be gained for SU by not actually following up with a firm, public bid?

At best, it would prove SU were serious and help drive off other possible buyers who were less serious, or hoping they'd get him on the cheap.

At worst, it would flush out others who were serious, forcing them to match/exceed SU's bid. So that if s.o. else did sign him, at least SU would know where they stood sooner, thereby allowing you to turn to your second choice (McBurnie?), before someone signed him as well.

As for the "background noise", you weren't the only club who've expressed an interest, and his head remains "turned" even after you have started looking elsewhere, so that hardly proves your interest was so far advanced as some seem to believe.

Possibly, possibly not.

All of which argues against his rejecting your offer - if there was one...
Has maupay played today? Fair play holding on to him.

Brentford are beginning to look rather silly.
Dont be daft it's all part of the master plan of a team going for promotion. You let your top player have some time off in France (despite already having all the summer off) and then dont even bother picking him for the bench for your first match which you then dominate but dont score in and lose to one of the favs to go down.

All this despite there being no bids for said player. As Baldrick might say 'it was a very cunning plan. However its not working so far, early days I know, but no money in the bank and no player on the pitch.

Wait for the offers to come in. No offers. Maupay wants to stay. No offers. A

20 million, no bids. No bids.

It’s been one of the worst handled pre seasons in terms of handling him if they really set out to only sell for a ridiculous offer

Might be a good business model but a terrible football one

He seems to be unsettled by all the recent events and “bids”

They will need a replacement ASAP , how about 10 m for starters !

Aye why the hell not !
He clearly isn’t putting the bees first , is he ?

Who would have thought this thread would still be active so soon after big McBurnie

Bzzzzz...bzzzzzz...where r they
Maupay back on. In France watching Blades.
I really hope not...weve signed enough forwards...dynamic, strong CM is the position I'd be looking to fill next and more cover at the back

Maupay is exactly what we need a young goalscorer Robinson McBurnie and Maupay will give us real options
