Neal Maupay

If SU and BFC have "agreed a fee", you would expect a bid to follow.
And for BFC to accept it.
Otherwise, what is the point of talking and agreeing?
Esp when a bid made and accepted pushes the deal that much closer, by forcing other interested clubs to "shit or get off the pot", something which is in the interests of both BFC and SUFC (and Maupay).
1. agree fee with club
2. agree deal with player
3. possible formal bid for said player
4. deal done

we appear to have stalled in and around 2. so it is perfectly feasible to presume that a fee has been agreed ? What consititues an actual bid, well could be 1. could be 3. if it's 1. then we're right, if it's 3. then you may be right. Great, move on.

Does this mean that Villa have just pulled out of the bidding for Maupay?

It’s just been reported that they have signed the Egyptian international winger/ striker Trezaguet for around 12 million.

Trezaguet is a winger, more like Benrahma than Maupay

So Les, Banana et al, while we have you, tell us about Romaine Sawyers. Reckon he'll leave this Summer? All insights into bids or no bids appreciated too.

Trezegeut is a much better player than Maupay, if he only costs 12 mill then it shows how much Maupay is being over valued. For 20 mill you can keep him you Brentford mugs. We ain't getting ripped off.

The lad is unsettled and his heads been turned I hope he stays and is crap tbh. Then I'll go on Brentfords crappy forum and patronise everyone and tell them all I'll c u next Tuesday

I fear the worst and would be very, very sad. Out of contract next summer and unlikely to agree a new deal. West Brom have bid, been knocked back but they'll be back, no doubt imo. Honestly speaking though his flaws - not enough goals, not enough assists - probably rules him out of becoming a Prem player. But what a player - will be sorely lamented if he goes. My favourite player in the last 25 years I would say. 😢

Just putting this out there, maybe this will help keep this forum in check. Also if you'd like to inspect Sara's hive, you can.58122

I thought we were trying to get rid, not keep?

I do wonder how this lad has not left Brentford yet.

If Villa wanted him then I reckon he would already be their player by now. Also, I am not sure he is number one choice for Brighton either.

I assume our deal is still on the table for him?

I assume He's not fussed about coming here and is holding out for a better offer (in his opinion). But just an assumption and who knows what is actually happening behind the scenes. If CW holds him in high esteem then he should be a good signing for us or whoever. Just gone a bit cold on this one.

I'd publicly withdraw the bid (if any has been made). Wilder is clear he doesn't want us to be anyones backup plan/second choice.

You can’t publically withdraw a bid if none has been made publically.

It’s like us saying we’ve offered SW 40 million for Joao but then we quickly withdrew it.
And whilst we’re at it we could offer 300 million for Neymar Junior, then a few minutes later withdraw it.

We could announce that our interest has cooled and announce that we are looking at other options but that would be a bad move
Because it weakens our hand going for other strikers and strengthens the hand of any other clubs wanting Maupay.

If any club is wanting Maupay, they'd have had him by now.

Was thinking yesterday this has all gone a bit quiet. If Villa wanted him he would be there by now (with how they are splashing the cash). If Brighton wanted him I think he would be there by now. I could see him rocking up to Shirecliffe on deadline day ala Odemwingie only to find out we have spent all the money on McBurnie

I was thinking the same thing. Although not sure if Wilder wants someone who sees us as his last choice.
