Lol it took this message for me to catch on!I see what you've done there...![]()
Like itI've just overheard a member of the club confirming it.
Obviously I can't mention any names, but they were to do with financial department and that's all I'll say.
It was difficult to make out the full conversation, but heard them waxing lyrical about last season and then something about and how well the players did and contract clauses and stuff and whether they'll perform any better this season with Maupay. At least that's what I think I heard.
Whose turn is it to post a youtube link to Modern Romance ?Sounds like a completely legitimate story to me, so I’m happy to overlook the fact that GreasyChipBeattie isn't down on the master spreadsheet for today.
Me tooLol it took this message for me to catch on!
There have been no bids!!That implies there have been some bids![]()

"I'm concerned about Leon in the prem"
"Let's see how be does with more pay"
That implies there have been some bids![]()
Maybe true but Villa spending recently has shown that arguably if they believed that Maupay would be a success in the prem they would happily have paid and paid the full whack up front possibly, the amounts they have spent surely lends weight to that theory
I think if you are holding out for your value then time may be running out; sure you can keep him but your keeping a player who wants to play in a higher league and whose value will drop quite a bit if your not challenging come January or not up by end of season
I mean how much time do you realistically have to get something done based, admittedly on assumptions here, belief that someone may come in last hour desperate and willing to pay? Do you think they still pay top whack if you leave him out first game of season ?
Will be something I will be keeping an eye out for sure

Not sure I get your point. We've probably priced him at a level we're comfortable selling at. Prices go up the closer you get to the end of the window. Happy not to sell him, happy to sell him if our valuation is met. It's more likely to get met the closer we get to the end of the summer.
We didn't challenge last season and have priced him accordingly. If we're not challenging by January then I imagine he'll still be worth as much if not more, should his form continue, as there's always a premium in the winter transfer window and some club desperate enough to bid.
The last time we had our hand forced was with Tarkowski, and the club learned an awful lot from that. We don't buy difficult players anymore as a result. We're fair with them - we'll put you in our first team shop window/you'll get loads of exposure despite being young and we'll let you leave immediately if we get the right bid.
Seems to work fine based upon those who've left in recent seasons.
There's not an awful lot of downside holding on to talent. We turned down a big bid for Mepham last summer, he we under contract and carried on playing well/didn't kick up a fuss. Sold him for an awful lot more in the winter window... when we weren't challenging.
I’ve prebooked that for the Mousset thread.
good point........Are you sure you didn't mis-hear. Could it have been that they said ".... and how well the players did and contract clauses and stuff and whether they'll perform any better this season with more pay."
Don't encourage them Nick, I'm hoping they might fuck off.Hi there Bees could you please outline to us your club's current financial situation, transfer policy and how you as a transfer expert would advise other clubs to conduct their transfer business. And also how much you would accept for Maupay.
Regards
C. Wilder

My point is he is still with you because no one currently thinks he is worth what you consider him to be worth or maybe someone is willing to pay that but only if certain conditions are met
Your season starts earlier so if you have no interest in selling it’s business as usual, if you are looking at cashing in then you won’t start him first game due to injury risk at which point your showing your hand
Now maybe in previous markets teams have panicked before and overpaid but it’s different now, there is literally very little the player can do to add value and make a club overpay when prem clubs don’t kick off till after the window shuts etc etc so at this point what I’m saying is if prem clubs really thought he was that good it really makes little difference for 18 of them to haggle over a price when that price is pretty cheap for majority of clubs
So in essence I’m suggesting he is still with you because teams would rather risk that money on other unproven prem strikers than your guy, now obviously that could change come January but if you can’t get that value for him now it’s going to be hard to get it come January if you are mid table and he wants out because you stopped him moving before
Fair enough - don't agree with any of that, but that's fine. Lots of ifs and buts in your post, whereas I've pointed to an almost identical scenario last year and it played out as we'd hoped. Not only is he immediately talented but he's also got huge amounts of potential - so a buying club is investing in that potential as much as they are his immediate impact. Can't see his sale value decreasing by a concerning amount as he's years off his peak.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed. The club will have calculated his current value to our first team and won't intend on him going for anything less.
It sounds like complete bollocks and it’s a very good reason why one should read the full thread before posting.Sounds like they could just be speculating around what impact he could have, but I’ll take it in order to have some excitement through this afternoon.
Paid, with extra. I feel dirtyFine’s in the post.
Or they don't mind getting ripped off. Us Yorkshire folk won't bow down to you london folk with your stupid demands. Just cause a shitty 1 bed studio flat cost half a million quid down there, that doesn't make it good. In fact id say it makes it pretty shite! And you are all miserable and mardy and uptightNah... Villa pay the going rate for players. The transfer of Konsa last week showed that they know how to get a deal done quickly instead of fannying about.
