I think you guys need to get your story straight.

SU is a massive club, yet you're crowing about getting back to where you should never have left in the first place.

versus

BFC is a tiny club, who shouldn't be allowed to take some small comfort in being nicely set a couple of divisions above where we "properly" belong.

Is it a Northern thing? ;)

Most people on here saw Brentford as a club with a model to imitate or borrow from pre Wilder. I advocated being a "bigger Brentford", which is a huge compliment. That's not meant to be patronising, but to recognise that our revenues are bigger and that if we used the same/similar methods we would achieve even better results. Most people in our fanbase were happy that Brentford were upsetting the established order somewhat. United relish being an underdog club, so naturally see affinity with other underdogs.
In the last few years we've signed a few of your players and have subsequently been told how toilet they are, and how you were scewing us. Of course these philosophers were comprehensively proved wrong; but it somewhat soured relations. I still see Brentford fans telling us how wank O'Connell and Egan are with a nauseating regularity, even now. Maupay seems to have taken things to a whole other level as various Bees seem dumbfounded that little old us could dare have an interest in their player. And below your fanbases valuation of the player. How dare we!
United fans have never been a fanbase known for bigging up our club as 'massive'. Au contraire, we use it as a stick to beat other clubs with, as I'm sure the "massive" in South Barnsley will inform you. It's more a reaction to the superiority complex exhibited by our recent visitors, which is a bit ludicrous in light of recent events.
You should also take a look at Roy's view froms. Every time we play you the match is described as a hoofball team versus the 'cultured' Brentford. Arrant bollocks, which in all honesty hasn't been forthcoming from many other championship clubs. We expect that shite from Villa, dirty Leeds, Pigs, Forest etc.

I’d much rather have Maupay at the Lane than Kieran Fucking Trippier!

I'd rather have Trippier to be honest as he's a clear improvement on what we currently have down the right side.
Pretty academic as he's way out of our league but the point about the transfer fee remains relevant. Very unlikely a forward who's had one good season in the Championship at £20m represents the same value as a player who's played at the highest level for club and country for the same fee.

Makes you wonder about fans who lord it how they mugged a club out of 3 mill for an average central defender then see a striker they let go for 1.5 million get sold for 16 million after scoring more goals last season than the player they would like but can’t afford. Then to top it all they sell a central defender for 1.5 million who is now going to be sold for over 60 mill.Great business 😃
And had said players not departed when they did the manager might not have been able to assemble a team that annihilated League One and got promoted automatically to the top table in 3 years.

Whatever money Maguire, Adams, Ramsdale, Calvert-Lewin are worth now is nothing compared to the long term progress the club has made.

Whilst I've not sniped at any Bees on here and have enjoyed the posts, if I may say, for a club whose raisin d'être is seeing the bigger picture, your post is pretty short sighted.

Still don't mind Brentford. For beating Leeds alone and helping secure our promotion as early as it was.

Their fans have always shown themselves up to be an odd bunch. So strangely deluded and condescending to other teams as seen in Roy's View Froms. All this after what seems to be a very dull last few years after promotion from League One consistently finishing mid-table without challenging in the slightest. So it's not in the least surprising that a good 80% of their fan base are tickled by signing up to S24SU and having a dig at the Blades. Life must be incredibly fucking boring.

I think the difficulty for Brentford is that they’ve actually gone slightly backwards league position wise in the Champ. So not sure the model has legs.

Cringeworthy desperation to be recognised and be ‘part of the conversation’!

Unfortunately some of us are facilitating it. I enjoy the odd bantz or reasoned debate with the other fans, but this...

“Mummy, mummy, look at me”!!
Guilty of rising to it myself although in my defence I had had a few at the time. It’s actually extremely dull now and you’re right it’s all very attention seeking

Why are we still talking about fees?,already agreed.
Down to the player who we have spoken with, which of the clubs he will choose. These clubs also have agreed the fee and been given permission by Brentford to speak to the player.

I dont quite understand our fans perspective on this, Brentford will get £20 million or he wont leave its not hard to understand, £20 mill upfront or £20 mill eventually, is still £20 mill

I’d love to negotiate with you..... take everything at face value. This is high level business with high level negotiating strategies. Why do you think these deals take so long as there both trying to save/get that extra 1-2million.

Maupay is the problem then? Does seem odd all this, maybe he's having his turned with talk of big wage possibles at West Ham/Villa. I can see him staying at Brentford regretting his chance to come here.

Judging on the info given it took a while to get everything agreed with all parties including agent. This time allowed others to come in late and now he has a tough decision to make. Which is fair enough.

To be frank I believe RC when he said Chris had spoke to him and that was before he went home for 3 or 4 days to sort his head out before coming back yesterday

Either he has told Brentford he wants to sign for us and it’s getting sorted now or he can go elsewhere

Christ so this is going to go on! The deal isn't dead . Please maupay, grow a pair, and make a fucking decision

Read the update mate. Maupay will be leaving, maybe not to us , but to someone. Kiss him goodbye.

Maybe and we’ll happily kiss the £20 million. You’re obviously not signing him so think I’ll say ta,ta for now. Enjoy the Premiership. Sincerely hope you do OK.

Sincerely hope you do OK too, especially when playing that shite down in S6.
Always had a soft spot for any team that plays in red and white stripes and black shorts (apart from Southampton as they’ve messed around with their kit so much).
Also think BFC are generally quite popular because they are showing what smaller clubs can achieve, it’s a fantastic story and gives hope to other clubs,

This arguement about ‘bids” is pretty pointless.
It seems clear that that these days many clubs DON’T make official bids.
They negotiate a price and once agreed by all parties only THEN will they make an official bid, as they are then confident it will be accepted.
Information released to the press is not always accurate and can be part of the negotiating process to attract more bidders/ more interest.
