That handball was a carbon copy of the handball's to give a penalty away by John Fashnu in that there was no apparent reason to do it, it was common knowledge though at the time that he would leave United should we be relegated. Everton the club he supported from boyhood known to be interested he had everything to gain if we went down. Oh and Monty didn't have much talent to make the best of he couldn't even run much without falling over ......................... just watch the dozy twat here

Complete Bollocks

1 year deal on heavily cut wages, but with a view to move into a coaching position at the club perhaps

The only way I see this one coming to fruition

I was and am still critical of Jags for the handball, it was total madness but I don't think he did it deliberately with any ulterior motives. There's no way he needed to give away a pen to leave, I'm sure he would have gone anyway that summer, he'd done really well for us in the Prem and was destined for bigger things.
Exactly that. When have we ever refused to sell a player who was determined to leave? You get the same people who cry every time we sell a player about how we always sell our best players, saying that Jags has committed one of the biggest sins in football so that he’d get sold (because we wouldn’t have sold him otherwise).

Some people call it cognitive dissonance. I call it cuntery of the highest order.

No doubt we’d only sign him if he fit into the wage structure as a squad player. On that basis get him signed!

He’d be great cover for the central and right defensive positions. Could also be a good option off the bench late on, playing in a defensive midfield role to help see us over the line in tight matches.

Wilder has also said we need three keepers in the squad. Pretty much guaranteed this.

Skybet giving us a good chance of bringing him back.

If he comes in as a squad player, leader and experienced head in the dressing room and training ground then.. fine. We need his brain more than his legs.

Dont recall he ever had a big ego so wouldn't imagine he'll have an issue with being limited to appearances off the bench. If he's starting regularly for us then something will have gone wrong (or he's secretly discovered time travel).

what ever wage we would end up paying Jags, i'd rather put it towards a centre forward who can put the ball in the net and help to keep us in the division - that's hopefully a young, hungry, half decent footballer that we can make better and increase his value - just in case we did get relegated.

UTB

PS: THANKS for the fantastic memories Jags - good luck in the future with the coaching badges - come and manage us in 20 years time when CW retires.

United Twitter have put a cheeky little tweet on with a 'home' symbol on.
People are now going to speculate about Jagielka coming 'home'. Not me, I'm sensible.

On a side note - What was the Jagielka quote that was on the front of the club shop a while back? Cant find it anywhere online

"Wasn't Hammond wank, apart from his unseen play, obviously"??

Having a player like Jagielka will be invaluable.

Only Basham has any Premier League experience. Jagielka would be great to have to back up our defence.

I think some of our fans have become a bit snobby when it comes to signing players of a certain age, its as if we could never sign a 30+ player ever again.

Bladey Claptrap. Fuck the Everton player. Don’t come back. You haven’t bothered for twelve years.

I don't get this 'he brings PL experience' thing.

Football is football, the game doesn't change any higher up you go, the only change is the quality of player and him having 'experience' at almost 37 doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I'm sure i recall Chris Wilder saying when we got promoted to the Championship he wanted players with that experience; e.g. Stearman

And when we got promoted to the prem, he's clearly said he wants young hungry players wanting a shot at the big time.

Plus, Stearman wasn't 37 and on silly money.

Jagielka, despite his age, would still be a huge upgrade on Stearman. The squad is desperately lacking in Prem experience - if CW feels he could still do a job and Jagielka is up for the challenge, especially if it provides a pathway into coaching, then why not?
