Premier league strikers

How many teams in the premier have really good strikers? Because after the 8 or so usual names not many get over 10 goals? So can we survive in the premier with 4 or 5 players getting 7 goals each and not throwing big money at Tammy Abraham or A N other? Because a player who scores 6 or 7 premier league goals will fit our budget whereas even the likes of 'Che' probably wouldn't

Maupy has a shit finishing percentage, in the 40%'s

Billy is in the mid 60%'s - you aren't gonna get many chances as it is, without missing 1 in 2

This might be correct but also maupy probably creates a little more I think we will need a pacey option and that isnt going to happen with a 60 percent + goal conversion I very much doubt. Theres a couple of options wilder will be looking at but I wouldn't be surprised to see maupy on that list some where even if not top priority. I think wilder will be looking to pick the best out of the championship like he has done with the other leagues when we have got promoted.

Hope he starts buying tomorrow, we have a months start on the 3rd club going up
 
40 goals will keep us up because I'm sure our defence will be more than capable.

25 goals from the front 3 players would have us well on our way to that total.

Then we need to squeeze everything we can out of set pieces.

you do not need a 20 goal striker. rotation will be in play. not sure che or Abrahams would get double figures in the prem. only 6 strikers in the bottom half hit double figures. Only 11 got more than 5!

Totally agree my choices would be:

Mitrovic (again if we can get him for the 22m Fulham paid and his wages weren't horrific)
Abraham (on loan, I think Villa not getting promoted would help)
Carroll (if we can do the right wages)
Beyond that anybody we can afford is a gamble and some of those could be over 10 million quid!
(Maupay, McBurnie, Bowen, etc it might just turn out they aren't good enough)

If we pay close to £22m this summer for a player I'll shave my hair off and set it on fire in the back garden as part of a proto-druid ritual.
 
Cardiff played majority of the season with a right back up front that’s probs why they went down

That's why I think we won't get him, I was hoping United would offer the 13 m quid Newcastle paid for him but then he got sold on to Fulham but I think he is as close to a (single) player we could afford who would give us a fighting chance in the Prem.
Compare 22m for Mitrovic proven 10+ goal Prem striker, to Maupay, Bowen, McBurnie all of whom would be 15m+ and untested.

Mitrovic will go spurs or Everton I reckon long way out of our league

Dom Solanke who has, as far as I can see, scored 1 Premier League goal and 8 total senior goals in his entire career, cost Bournemouth £19m, so imagine how much a guaranteed goal scorer costs. We won't be shopping in the proven PL striker shop.

This is a misleading stat in isolation. One of the things you have to measure heavily against Sharp's conversion rate is that he doesn't shoot very much. Almost all of his shots are from close range. Billy's strength is his positioning and movement in the box, not necessarily his finishing %.

We play around creating high quality chances and we don't shoot from range much as a team.

Even with the TV money, we’re very much in rabbit and hat territory. Our current management have done it season after season so there is cause to believe we’ll find another one.
 
There was a moment in the Ipswich game when Billy had the ball in space on the edge of the opposition box with only a defender to beat.

Not a dig at him at all because he's a fantastic goalscorer in his own right, but as it happened he tried to get past the guy and was tackled.

What we need is the guy who, in that scenario, reliably powers past the defender, via pace or skill, and gets a powerful strike into the corner. I think there are several in the champ who fit the bill.
 
What about Defoe hes still doing it for Rangers and only on loan from Bournemouth.

I very much doubt we can get Maupay and there is no way we'll be paying the wages required to sign Carroll or Mitrovic.

Mitrovic is allegedly being offered the chance to earn £300kpw in China, for a transfer fee of £50m I might add - think that's a little out of our price range...

In the case of Solanke, they paid for his potential, not his goal record.
 
I think we can rule out anyone from Chelsea as they are under a transfer embargo for the next 2 transfer windows (I believe). They're not going to want to lose any of their better players, which will include Abraham IMO.

I think Maupay & Mitrovic will go for more than we will be willing to spend. To be honest, there isn't a player in any of the 3 teams relegated that I definitely would like is to sign (maybe with the exception of Sessegnon at Fulham who is apparently off to Tottenham once the window opens).

I'd like us to have a look at Callum Robinson at Preston. Had a cracking season for them & barring injury I reckon would have been in with a shout for top scorer.
 
I actually think Maupay is out of our league, there were rumours of bids from top 6 sides earlier during jtw, and i think if theres us in for him, we wont be the only pl side in for him too, think watford, bournemouth et al will give it a gamble too, and weve got far less pull than them tbh

I just don't see this as I don't think he is a big enough name (which always seems more important in these newer leagues), Everton is more likely but again (as with Burnley) they are collecting strikers so somebody misses out. If we end up with this year's strike force we will not score enough goals, we need at least one good addition (like Hulse last time round), who is enough of a threat to open up the game for our other strikers to get a chance. Lois of people throwing in ideas, many of whom are spent forces and many who will be out of reach.
Chali 2na who is your suggestion? I see you picking off other people's ideas but can't find your choice of a signing.
