Interesting that Saturday's programme ran with the 1990 theme, whilst clearly there is the Wilder link, this weekend brought back memories of May 1990, that I never thought possible. Back then, I was 17 and caught up in the sheer emotion of that day at Leicester and the incredible journey back home to North Yorkshire. For the last 29 years, nothing has topped that, until this weekend.

Sure there have been near misses, 3-1 at Wednesday, cup runs 2002-3, Hull at Wembley, League One 100 points, but this is different. Why? True, there were three generations together in the South Stand; me, dad (as at Leicester) and the kids, so that was special. But when I woke up yesterday I actually felt like a kid again myself, we were up and we'd done it.

It was discussed on these pages last week how 1990 eclipses 2006 under Warnock, well 2019 certainly matches it at the very least. I can remember every game from the Bassett promotion season, same with this and the best thing is my kids will too. These moments happen rarely for proper football fans, for some never, so we are so lucky, what a weekend that was.

Never a truer word spoken!

If you weren't here for Basset, then make sure you enjoy this one.

If you were here in 88-95 you are an old fart and drink has probably destroyed most of your brain cells, so enjoy this one too.

If you were here in 71-75 you remember every minute - it’s the years in between then and now that are completely blank!

April 27 1971, I was 17 and had the best day of my life - April 27 2019, I felt 17 again!

The Magic Roundabout has turned full circle!

It is obvious how this lives on. Chris Wilder speaking to Dave Bassett when he needs to.
In 1990 we all actually appreciated it more and did not fret much when the season started in the top flight and we were struggling. Did not have meltdowns because we were not winning. Got to Christmas with the lowest top flight points total ever? Then started playing.
DB adapted to the situation and it was so much fun.
We, all of us are a little unsure how we'll cope in there but I'm sure there will be none of this " He's took us as far as he can" crap. CW will adapt as DB did. He's proved he does this time a d time again.
Thanks for then Dave Bassett Sir your spirit runs deep and Thanks for now Chris Wilder Sir for Now.
