He was voted Football Association of Wales Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year on Thursday. The first time that has ever happened. Ever.

We should never of sold him to be honest, especially not for the pennies that we did. We'd be promoted already if we could've called on him for cameo appearances. :D

*Edit: I think it says more about the lack of welsh talent than owt else. ;)
You should never of written that, innit blud.

Article here.

Re. 'nutmegging' players:

'Players haven't really said anything apart from the obvious.'

Which is?

'"If you do it again, I will snap you" — but I am not naming names!'

I wonder if one was Jack Cunt - probably appearing for Bristol City next week.

Still, the same old few will tell you that we got what he was worth, because that was the only bid on the table.

'cos United have to accept at least one bid, thems the rules.

The Brooks, walker ,Maguire monies have paid for our recruitment over the last two.seasons which is still pretty low ( bottom 6 budget) for the division

We are challenging for top two on a bottom 6 budget and yet people can't equate that selling a player who is desperate to get away for the money we did has probably saved us from being equal budget wise with Ipswich and look where they are

Our wage bill has doubled from 9 million to 19 million.
Where do you think the money for this comes from?

Presumably he’s hit the targets required to take it up to £15m? Let’s hope he gets a big money move and we get a percentage of the fee before people realise he’s injury prone.

Based on what? Glandular fever and one impact injury. He never missed many for the youth teams, and he was playing above his age group.

I’m not convinced he’s got the physical attributes to play regularly at the top level. I suspect he’ll get injured quite often. We’ll see.

Anyone still angry we sold Brooks?

Not angry, just disappointed. But understand the reasons.

As I've said earlier in the thread, I don't think Wilder would've had funds to spend £6m on Egan and Norwood.

If only we had a magic ball and could see the tangent we went on in the parallel universe where we kept him.

Not at all. We sold a squad player to fund promotion. Let’s say he sells for £40m we will be due another £6m. £17m profit for a free transfer on a squad player is a good deal, especially when that leads to promotion.

Hopefully now we are in premier league we won’t have to sell promising youngsters as early, we can benefit more from their talent and we can be the ones receiving £40m.

As good a player as Brooks is, I'm not 100% sure he'd fit into Utd's current team considering he plays right side for Bournemouth

RWB - don't think he has the defensive discipline or ability
#10 - never really convinced when played there
Second striker - obviously had a stormer in the Derby playing alongside Clarke but not sure he's prolific enough

I remain sure that selling him was for the greater good of the side, in much the same was as selling Adams benefited the side overall when he was sold in L1.

As an indication on how good/bad the price Utd received for him was, it will be interesting to see how much Clarke goes to Spurs for.
