That was for me, THE most enjoyable win of the season.
Quality, passion, determination, togetherness, sheer hard graft. We had it all.
Yes WBA's intent to find an equaliser meant I spent most of the last 20 minutes sat on the edge of my seat, but that final whistle heralded a result far beyond the significance of 3 points.
It kept the pressure well and truly on Leeds and Norwich.
It showed the rest of the division they need to fear playing us.
If gives us a psychological boost if we do have to face them again in the play-offs.
It sets us up nicely for the rust bucket.
It gives the players even more belief.
It shuts the mouths of those Baggies that will, as we speak, be typing their excuses, accusations and general down-playing of a result which hopefully will remind them of the need for a little more respect when it comes to playing li'l old Sheffield United and their crock of small time, lower league, over-the-hill players.

Bang on well said. UTB

Lets get summat straight, we were not at our best tonight. Johnson showed good pace but lost the ball quite a few times. McG did hold the ball up reasonably well, but his decision making twice (and not for the first time this season) was poor. It wasn't a full-strength squad yet everyone gave 110%, not one player looked weak tonight. I'd say in part we weren't at our best because WBA didn't allow us to be, and I dare say we nullified some of their game as well. They are a strong team and Moore has done an excellent job with them, they'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season and I dare say will be chasing the top spots, come the end of the season. Nevertheless, it was a huge 3 points tonight, and last season we'd have lost, that for me is the difference between this year & last, we're grinding out results where 12 months ago we'd have fallen short. Time to focus on next week now and to keep the momentum up. COYRAWW!!!

That was a great win, I love that we are growing into the season & showing that we can adapt to various situations & play matches according to what is required from us. Cranie's run & cross for the goal just typifies how players come into the group & buy into what the manager wants. I am starting to believe!

Something else to be proud of today, from the BBC report...

"Albion, who failed to score at home for the first time in the league this season, were unable to find a reply and are fourth in the table, four points behind United"

They said during the game that the last league game they failed to score in at home was against Everton.

Something we couldn't do last season and for a few games this season, that is to dig deep and survive, I didn't watch it but listened as usual on tow'd valve radio thingymajig and they dug in esp 2nd half, and the blades away day club were superb...they made the 13th man tonight.
