So another Friday night game for us on TV with the trip to Villa Park. Extraordinarily difficult game in my opinion, and far less confident that some of my fellow Blades seem. Having said that, I'm sure if we play at or close to our best, we should get some kind of positive result....

Anyway...

Any team news?

Hogan cannot play against his parent team...

Go with the same side which started v Bolton?

Or slot the 2 new ones in with Duffy to come on from the bench?

But how to fit with Dowell and McGoldrick...

CW to figure all that out...

History in this fixture is very much against us, with very little success occuring for us at Villa Park. However they seem to draw a few, and aren't playing too well at the moment according to their fans. They're missing a couple of important :) players so tonight's as good a chance as we'll have any time soon. 2-3 to the Mighty Blades, but that's definitely a heart made prediction...

Safe journey all

I will NOT be happy with a draw. Villa are shite. Only a win is good enough tonight. Another chance to go top that we need to grasp. COYRAW WIZZAAARRRDDDZZZZZZZ!

Get Lunny on if Grealish gets on, snap the twat in half again.

A chance to go top - Check
On Sky TV - Check
Away game - Check

Lose then.

Not a negative post but the odds are against us with the above three points.

Prove me wrong Blades.

Really looking forward to this, we are sat on row A of the lower tier so proper "limbs" if or should I say when we score.....(just have to keep hold of the youngest but he will be in the middle of it all way before I am!)....

Compared to last seasons game at Villa Park we are a lot stronger and they haven't really moved on, if Egan keeps Abraham in his back pocket, Fleck keeps McGinn quiet in the middle and Norwood is on top form we shouldn't fear anyone or anything.....if Grealish is back it will give them a lift but that is about the only positive I can see for them.

It wont be easy by any means and I am sure CW has drilled that into the squad....go there with confidence and play our game and we can come away with at least a point.

Starting line up wise I think he will be tempted to start Madine but having said that how can you break up the divisions most prolific partnership? Dowell maybe for Duffy as he seems more confident running at the opposition rather than Duffs who tends to go sideways and if Fleck stitches up McGinn there will be a lot of space to exploit.

Think Tammy Abraham may be the difference tonight we seem to struggle against sides with that talisman centre forward (see McBurnie at Swansea)

I Think we may go down to a narrow defeat, but hopefully I’m proved wrong as four points over the next two games is the bare minimum if we want to keep pressure on the top two.

When was the last time all three of these situations aligned? The last I recall was away against Leeds last season, when we won and went top. I don't think it's happened since has it?

Tonight is a very important game in my opinion. A good result and we put down a marker to prove that we are serious and credible contenders for a top two finish. Another defeat of the Bristol , Derby , Forest , Swansea kind , and questions will be asked of us again. I think we can win this , if we can finally start taking these chances when we get them.

Really tough one to predict this.

If we want to win we have to start well and take our chances, if we go in halftime in front then I fancy us to win.

Go in behind or level I see it being Derby and Swansea all over again.

It's got exactly the feeling of Leeds away last season. The same result would be even more significant than it was then.

It would seem a bit too good to be true for us though. Another 2-2 wouldn't surprise me.

Would love to see Mings get crippled. It's scandalous that he's able to play.

I would definitely start with Dowell, Duffy is a fantastic option to come on if we're struggling. Otherwise we don't really have great options from the bench.

Maybe I should've stated "A chance to gain ground on the top 2", with the last instance being Swansea away this season. Prior to that the point at Norwich and the home loss to Leeds.

I think he will start with the team that started against Narwich. If we can put in another performance like that I think we will win, play like we did 2nd half against Swansea and we will be in for a tonking.

Sorry but i have a feeling that they will do to us what we did to them when we played them at home.

We need to start showing our cockroach like resilience ( (c) Norwich wanker ) and make an early break for promotion. I don't fancy the play offs at the best of times but it's likely that it's going to be the toughest for years.

I'll be watching this in Butlins for a mate's 30th. I feel like whenever I'm pissed in a pub watching us play we lose and it ruins my mood. Swansea was the most recent example of that!

Watching us away on Sky is always a cliche chore. Don Goodman, Gary Birtles and more recently David Prutton comparing us to the alien villains from Spacejam. We also mostly lose.

To make you feel that 1% more optimistic try and source out my Top 5 Blades on Sky Away Performances (omitting Bouncing day) in no specific order:

Boro 97/98 - Dane Whitehouse winner
Reading 08/09 - Brian Howard I think?
Portsmouth 02/03 - Classic Warnock shithousery and Paddy Kenny playing with crutches
Leeds 17/18 - Satisfying
Coventry 16/17 - Personal favourite

anyone know of any good pubs in the ecclesall road/bramall lane area that will be showing the match? just asked in sentinel and they aren't, and I don't fancy nursery tav on a Friday night with all the stoodents

If only it was Prutton, he's a bit of a Sky cyborg presenter but he's infinitely better that bloody Minto. Minty Minto in the studio with small Irish man and probably Lee bastard Hendrie who won't remember that he played for us.

Shut yer feckin eyes then. Bit of shuteye in the corner of the bar for a couple of hours and you’re in fine fettle for the night.

Is the Porter Brook not showing it ?
It says on their website all sporting events shown a managers discretion.
