Egans replacement done at Brentford, hopefully we'll also fish in these ponds some day. They make profit, and get another player in with a potential to cover 3rd - 4th CB.
Brentford have agreed a £1.8m deal with Reims to sign centre-back Julian Jeanvier, Sky Sports News understands.

The 26-year-old is set to travel to London to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms.

The Bees have been after a new centre-back after selling John Egan to Sheffield United for £4m.

There is as much garbage on the continent as there is in the lower leagues here. How many continental superstars have our neighbours signed that have all gone back without making a mark on the championship (dirty Leeds also) . Buying experience at a good price and building a team seems to have worked well so far. This is our model and its different to Brentfords and its just as effective
Agree, but name me a premier league team that hasn't got a foreign player, and doesnt buy from Europe, and read my post again.

And probably the reason, we'll not be a premier league stayer for a good few years yet.

We just have to do it a different way. What would piss me off most is if we just throw in the towel and accept medicority.

Whilst ever we can hang onto CW then we at least have a chance as we know he and his team will put in 100%.

Agreed, but dipping our toe into the pool wouldn't be a bad thing.
I'm not saying we throw money away, but there are definitely some bargains to be had out there.

True, there are bargains - think we are still in the "last year of contract" type players. We wanted Robinson of QPR who went a few weeks back to Forest. Plus our style of play leads the Prem big boys to know we will use their youngsters in a sensible way.

We won't progress in other ways until McCabe lets us go to some one he trusts - and to be fair, Chansiri is a decent type at S6 or the Prince gets control and does "something" with us that nobody knows what yet. We need CW to stay, but reckon he will eventually just get fed up and walk at a season end. Unless something changes dramatically, i'd give him 2 years.

I hope McCabe finds a wealthy Chinese business man to buy the him and the Prince out, and has a war chest REAL/Barcelona/man city can only dream of!!!

But that won't happen, were not lucky enough!
We all hoped the Prince was the answer, but, alas, we've been bummed again.

The introduction of the Prince suggested many positives for us Blades. Even though the Prince has reportedly invested £17mil until now, in today's footballing climate there's a necessity to invest medium sized fortunes (at Champ level anything from £15-25mil minimum?) if you're serious about securing promotion. It seems that acrimony has lead to the type of boardroom division that may well have cast a dark shadow over the manager's ability to compete in the transfer market in the way he'd have expected.

Neither McCabe or the Prince seem equipped to invest in the way we imagined might be the case, and as yet there's no sign of interest from other suitors. Am I right in suggesting that McCabe didn't do due diligence when entering into partnership with the Prince? Or was McCabe's attention/excitement at bringing the Prince on board the very thing that lost focus when he most needed it? Of course, all any of us can do is speculate, and yes, comments attributable to specific individuals can sometimes be constructions that aren't reliable. I hope there's a positive outcome for the club in all of this, but it's not a great surprise to admit that there's far more water to go under the bridge before a resolution is arrived at. I hope KM manages to keep his wits about him and ensure that we move forward under Wilder and Knill, any other scenario might be the worst thing that could happen to this club. Apologies for the pessimism, but it seems that for the want of a horseshoe we might stumble before we reach the final hurdle.

Not so easy for wealthy Chinese to do this sort of thing any more, a lot of restrictions on capital flowing out of the country these days.

I’m certain he won’t. I’m afraid Tufty rates Stears a good deal higher than you appear to do. Egan, assuming he signs, will play RCB. Tufty previously went after the Blackburn lad who got injured, Linehan, for exactly the same role. As I understand it the manager thinks we conceded too many goals. Bash, for all his qualities, is a dodgy defender.

I’m afraid some Blades confuse what they want to happen with what is likely to happen.
I think we can safely dig this back up and say you were wrong and everyone who said he’d be in the middle of a back 3 was right.

‘He rates Stears considerably over Bash’ my arse.

In the interests of balance, as custodian of my archives, you might want to unearth the far greater number of times when I’ve got it right. A Herculean task, I know.

You could start with Little Louis and Runaround Done and work back from there?

Does this translate to ‘I got it wrong’
Am I actually reading the all knowing, all watching oracle of football that is Pinchy, actually admitting he was wrong for once? In a roundabout way as you’d expect.

Just hold your hands up.

What about the time you said wilder would be a failure and was just a lower league pub manager

The only people who never get anything wrong are those who say nothing and do nothing.

Many of our contributors talk unmitigated, ignorant bollocks about football all the time but never think to take responsibility for it. Indeed they pile on so much you can’t keep up with them. “Early crosses” is the latest party line. Noise and Nonsense, says Tufty.

Or the time you said David Brooks wasn't good enough for the first team you actually spent about three days arguing with a dozen posters who'd seen him play for the academy and thought he was good enough to.step up

Well, based on the majority of his appearances, he wasn’t!

It might be wiser to see how the wonderboy progresses over the next couple of years before elevating him to the Bladey Hall of Fame.

He’s got Man U and Spurs after him.

Just when can you actually just say ‘yep I got that wrong’?

Or David weir and how he was the next guardiola and certain to take us to the next level

Its not that you have an opinion though ,we all have those and we all get things wrong but you so vociferously and patronisingly attack anyone's who's different to yours even though you have made some of the most outlandish claims in the forum

No he hasn’t. You’ve made that up. He won’t be going to either. He’s a novice with a great deal to learn. Let’s see how he’s doing in a couple of years.

You might want to transfer this bollocks to “other football and sport” where those who want to obsess about a fucking Bournemouth player are free to do so. This section is about the Blades.

Did you watch Bournemouth today. He was not Man U Spurs level at all. One of the poorest performers. Diving, lightweight, fouling. Still got that bibbly bobbly no power finish problem too.

He's obviously got a lot of talent but he's a long way from showing it consistently enough to play for a top 6 team.

Also Man U and Tottenham are after everyone.

He didn't make it up, though the source's credibility isn't much better.

I don't know how much premier league football you watch but Brooks has looked fantastic so far - He's been Bournemouth's best player going forward along with Wilson.

Me and you watched two different games then Tom as I saw him as Bournemouth’s best player, by a country mile aswell.

Bright start but faded. Had the clearest chance of the opening stages and missed it and offered hardly anything defensively when they were backs to the wall, and knocked off the ball easily.

Blatent dive in the penalty area.

Not many were good for Bournemouth but he wasn't one of the few for me.

Having watched the game earlier, he still looks too lightweight to be a truly top-end player. The snap in his touch and movement faded as time went on, and he was subbed as he often is. But he does look good when the wind is in Bournemouth’s sails.

Another year or two at Bournemouth and he could well be on his way up to a CL challenging side. A bit more strength and know-how is all he needs.

I clearly saw the same game as bromtom . I thought he was poor today aswell .

Anyway, enough about him, and more about Eggsy . The guys absolutely rock solid and I'm still stunned by the comments we received from Brentford fans when we signed him . Have they ever been so wrong about a player before ????? Oh, hang on, JOC :D:D:D
