Not happy with this. Can't see where we can go with it to be honest.
EGAN pretty much spells itself, no potential for adding an E (or missing on off), no problematic "o" vs "ou" debate, I suppose we could have an Egon now and again but otherwise no fun to be had at all, must do better.
We could all proclaim, loudly and in our strongest Yorkshire accent: 'EE BY GAN!'

I just want to revisit that Wilder/Egan handshake. What a belter! Some Reeves & Mortimer style expressions from our Chris:

I think Bjelland screwed up. He turned down a new contract, expected to go the world cup and get his name out and get a better move. It didn't quite work out that way and we had moved on by then.

As for Egan's replacement, I reckon we'll either buy someone, or play Yoann Barbet (25 year old French cb) if not . I wouldn't have thought we'll start with Konsa.

I'm not sure anyone on here is that interested in Brentford's centreback options though. :)

You are right Les, we aren't interested. We have your captain and CB king pin and that's job done. For a club that plays total football like Brentford you weren't half given a football lesson at your place by "Wilders tactics" last season. How you got away a 1-1 draw is still being debated.

Why doesn't that surprise me
Apparently the lads came into the dressing room and found him wearing JOC's magic hat. It all kicked off with JOC throwing a brick at Egan but he just headed it back and it ended up hitting JOC on his head and knocking him out. Sharp stepped in saying it's not right for Egan to wear JOC's hat, even if there is speculation regarding Brighton's interest in JOC. Egan turned round to Wilder and asked who's the gaffer, you or Billy big fish? Wilder didn't take kindly to being spoken to like that and has subsequently lined up a loan move for Egan to Donny Rovers

Interesting piece on Porktalk claim.i g that we have only paid £600k plus add ons?

Egan has cost £600,000 up front. There is no guaranteed money on top of this. The fee is £600k - although there are add ons, of which the only add ons that will absolutely come to fruition are if he makes 60 appearances for the blades, and also if he achieves promotion whilst under contract.

The add ons could potentially reach £4m however the likelihood of this? Is the dude going to reach 20 caps? Are SUFC going to get promoted in the lifespan of this contract? Will he score in 10% of the games he plays (Yes, that is a part of the contract - if he scores in 10% of the games he plays for the duration of his contract, SUFC will have to pay out to Brentford!)

How do I know this?

HA! SUFC you have a mole, well, actually no you don't - you have an imbecile of a woman who likes to blurt all and sundry whilst she is drunk at a certain extra curricular activity for her daughter.

This happened tonight. It was surreal.

I'm not even joking - this bint did not shut up, for almost an hour! I have some right material on the blades and no offence, but I will be dining out on it for months - it was good stuff !!!

In the less than 5% possibility that this is anything other than pigshit and a desperate a snort for attention, may I just say I hope they continue to "dine out" on material such as buying a rival's captain for £600k upfront. What next? We negotiate Waghorn for £2m? Shame. SHAME!

If that's reyt is a fucking snip at that price. All that will ever be is dubious rumor though

I sooooooo want the numbers on this to be true! Seriously doubt it though as I can smell black truffle.

yeah.. right
(600k for Egan ?? fucking bargain or what?? lmao)

Any self respecting oinker would want us to overpay for a mediocre player. This one’s so thick, he’s desperate to share his overheard knowledge about us having nabbed a bargain, even though it makes the opposite point the one that would suit their agenda.

Accordingly, I’m going for there being some truth in this.

Thought he was excellent again tonight and looks a very very good defender. Very pleased with the signing after the two games.

One crunching tackle in the second half that reverberated around the ground. JOC did similar in the first half too. Shithouses for the win :)

And Stearman down the right hand side towards us!

Impressed so far with Egan. I like his no nonsense style and yes, I believe he can play it on the floor as well. We looked better with Bash at the right and Stearman seemed a little out of sorts so, Bash/Leonard..Egan..Jack for me.

Glad someone else noticed how much Egan looked out of place on the right of the 3 and Bash was so much more settled. Egan was much better in the middle of the 3

Egans replacement has arrived for £1.8m, be interesting to see how he does in his 1st season in England, Brentford have entered the Euro market again, wonder why we never seem to use it anymore??

I believe in a CW interview after we had signed Egan from Brentford - he said that they had a scouting network of 100 !

Apparently after Leicester signed Mahrez from a French 2nd division team, French games are now watched by 20-30 scouts every game linked to UK clubs.

We are way behind the times on the continent - perhaps we are now too late?

And probably the reason, we'll not be a premier league stayer for a good few years yet.

There is as much garbage on the continent as there is in the lower leagues here. How many continental superstars have our neighbours signed that have all gone back without making a mark on the championship (dirty Leeds also) . Buying experience at a good price and building a team seems to have worked well so far. This is our model and its different to Brentfords and its just as effective
