We need him against Rotherham. We're going to need our best headers and big lads for their direct and set piece threat. It's going to be a very very tough game, they're good at home.

Fuck's sake.

Stearman is a very handy backup though.

Using that site on IPhone I had to get past 4 windows:

“do you accept terms and conditions”
Honda advert
“Do you want to partake in a survey”
Confirmation I don’t want to take part in the survey

And they wonder why no-one reads it.

It is desperately bad isn't it?
The standard of reporting generally is beyond abysmal too.

The more local the press the more marketing it will have. It’s almost as though they’re struggling for earnings in an age when people expect to pay absolutely nothing for their online content...

I opened it on the laptop and the actual reading pane is so small and difficult to read because of the ads around the border.

Scroll down and the ads scroll with you... so you can’t actually get to see the article you want

Derbyshire times put a limit on the number of articles you could read in a week without subscribing. So I haven’t read that for months. Now Sheffield star has gone ad mad... wont be reading it again sadly

It needs the revenue but there's much better ways of doing it.

On iPhones if you click the horizontal lines which appear in the address bar when reading a website it puts it in ‘reader view’ and you don’t have to put up with any of that. Not sure how long that’s been available but I found out a few weeks ago. Gives me the option to do that on most sites with pop ups.

After what the star's parent company have done to their shareholders this weekend I'll never buy or use their website ever again.a disgrace .

You'll love the top brass statement regarding the buy out, about "quality".

I get the objection to ad-blockers, but Reader View is just an accessibility tool. Given that the content is indeed difficult to consume, then it's doing its job in earnest, no?

On topic, Stearman let no-one down when he came back in for Egan a few weeks back. A very able deputy at this level so nothing really to fear here

The one fear I have is ex-piggy Wood getting on the end of balls into the box. Egan has helped solved this problem we have had for a few years, even going back to Maguire days.

He's become pivotal to our defence - 2nd most valuable player for me after Norwood.

Or the content provider could provide a non-invasive ad-serving technology.

Sorry - I’m on my professional hobby-horse.

Ad-buyers are reliant on content-servers to provide both quality content and a decent user experience for them to get any return on the ads. They buy display ads on ‘impressions’ - the number of times the ad appears, so they need readers to click and take action.

If the sites their ads appear on don’t deliver, they stop buying the ad space. It’s a downward cycle that Johnson Press and Trinity Media have been battling against without success for years.

If the site does deliver, it can charge more for ads and therefore needs fewer and provides a smoother and less invasive experience.

The tech to do it exists and has done for years - but the pressure on the ad sales team is such that the person with the clout to commission it usually isn’t in post long enough to get the decision signed off. And so the cycle spirals faster and faster.

If the content is really good, users will subscribe. But if you can’t get them to stay for long enough to find out you can’t convert - and have to rely on ad revenue.

I think Stearman is very able but we looked poor defensively against Wigan and Windass skinned him alive for their second goal. Egan has been a big improvement and one that you don't notice too much till he's not there. I'd be much less confident without Egan there.

Yeah you’re right on that one. My point was adding to that of wesleysnipesmen not opposing it

Totally disagree with you Danny against Wigan he was constantly out of position and missed many headers and his demeanor showed he wasn't happy with his performances

Writing him off on the basis of one game then are we?

no danny not at all like you I think he is a capable back up but didn't think he was on top of his game against Wigan probably due to lack of match time must be hard not playing for ages and then expected to drop straight in , but that's the name of the game you have to be ready

Stearman is very capable but just prefer Egan's ariel dominance so hope he is fit to play
