A great footballer - certainly yes - but on top of that complete respect for how he has handled some difficult things for him and his family. Interview today mentioning how his kids would luv the match ball to play with and his humility makes him more than just a football legend

Do you think Aguero, Kane, Salah or any other leading goal scorer in the land needs rebooting?

What are even going on about? Sharp is 2 years older than Aguero, 6 years older than Salah and 7 years older than Kane.?? its up to a manager to know his players. Sharp went 2 games (not 3 apologies) without scoring got dropped to freshen him up then he scores a hat trick I dont get whats difficult about this? this isnt some anti Sharp agenda its just managing the body and mind of a 32 year old footballer?

Don’t get het up about it pal. Aguero, Salah and Kane have all gone 2 games without a goal and they don’t get dropped, what’s hard to understand about that?

Sharp playing fantastic recently, nobody better in the championship as he rarely misses in front goal but quite surprised soccer saturday said 1st hat trick for a decade. Right correct decision to rest billy sharp. Because you cant expect him to play all 46 games & still produce that level we know he can. Twice a week is enough.

Although on another point about 30 mins in physio earned his money. When Billy Sharp got studded in the balls & he had to stick his hand down there :D

Earned his money?

I'd have ran down from the stands and paid for the privilege!

He needs at the very least a bust, but probably a statue.

Absolute undoubted legend who we're privileged to have. It's a sort of When Saturday Comes, Roy of the Rovers, old fashioned local lad captaining his team and scoring goals story, with the benefit of he's fit as fuck and a properly good bloke.

You know he'll be running through brick walls for the good of his club whilever he can.

Hope we keep him around after his playing career ends too, if we can get even Diet Billy Sharps out of the academy he'll have set us up for years.

Only his second hat trick for the Blades wasn't it? The only other one I am aware of was v QPR when Blackwell was manager

That's right. He's got on other in his career as well, for Donny I think.

Like Moses to the good Lord Chris.

How is it needless? Wilder stated he needed the rest? And more importantly every time he does drop him for whatever reason Sharp comes back with the bit in his teeth and sets out to prove a point. Not scored in 3 he drops him and then he gets 3. It seems to happen every time he does it.

Billy's scored 10 in 12 or 13 this season (I think). Not to mention the games where he's subbed off. There's no other team anywhere who would be stupid enough to drop a striker with this record for the reasons you give. If we continue to lose games where Billy doesn't feature or is subbed off too early but win when he plays then someone will have a lot of awkward questions to answer at the end of the season.

Perhaps Wilder knows him better than us, and Wilder has realised that he performs best when rotated, ie doesn't start every game

Perhaps. But I bet he doesn't know Billy as well as Billy knows himself though and he's livid when he's dropped or subbed. Last season Billy was "rotated" and scored 13. The season before he wasn't "rotated" and scored 30. This season he's only been "rotated" twice and as if by magic his strike rate is up again. "Rotating" Billy is a load of bollocks and he'll score 25 goals this year if they stop fucking about with him.

Fun comparison:

Billy Sharp, whole United career (3 spells):
190 league games, 82 league goals

Brian Deane, 1st spell: 197 league games, 82 league goals

Deano added 26 league appearances and 11 league goals in his 2 later spells.

Another similarly- Deane's last spell and Sharp's first were identical. Both made 2 sub appearances without scoring.

Now 14 goals off 100 for United in all comps, 23 off 100 league goals.

Watching Dr Who tonight to see if she brings Deano back.

Just wish we’d have never sold him and have him proper chances imagine how many goals he would have had if he would have stayed his entire career

There was a sublime pass from Gary Speed for one of Billy's goals. A la Norwood, Fleck or Duffy.

That just proves how brilliant Billy has been and I don't think he has finished just yet. In a creative team Billy will still score goals in the premier league. He will go down as a legend if this club.

On Quest last night they said that was Billy first hattrick in 10 years...…?

Yep, the last one he got before yesterday was the aforementioned QPR game in August 2008. His only other one in his career was for Rushden & Diamond in April 2005.

Think it’s about time for the Quarterly Sharp reboot. Drop him for Brentford bring him back and he scores against leeds, Reading and West brom
