And a gripe that still festers is that the following week Sheffield City Council vetoed an open top bus parade for the squad on the grounds that becuase Wednesday had been relegated on the same weekend it wouldn’t be appropriate.

12 months later Wednesday were promoted back to the top flight.... and surprise surprise received an open top bus parade around the City.

Yeah Clive Betts, then Sheffield Council leader, Wednesdayite and Major dicksplash used the get out that it was a parade for winning the Rumbelows Cup not promotion.

Which of course begs the question why the parade was at the end of the season and not six weeks earlier when the trophy was won?
