I started following the Blades in 1960 so have experienced many derby days. Whenever we win, Wednesday fans always have plenty of excuses.
The latest moaning about parachute payments is a bit rich. As CW stated we earned the right to those by our progress from 2016.
Wednesday on the other hand have received plenty of unearned financial support over the years.
In the early 1960s Hillsborough was extensively rebuilt for the 1966 World Cup. Wednesday received grants from the FA for this.
More finance came their way by them being chosen to host semi-finals every year despite the stadium itself and the infrastructure around it being unsuitable for these large events as was tragically proved by the disaster in 1989. They still hosted games at Euro 96 despite this.
In 2010 the Coop bank agreed to write off £16.5 million that Wednesday owed them and as Chris pointed out Chansiri threw millions at them in an attempt to reach the Premiership.
Meanwhile the Blades have had to do things the hard way. In the 60s we built the Bramall Lane stand which was a significant factor in us selling Jones and Birchenall and being relegated in 1968.
Fast forward to 1975 when the South Stand opened and again the debt caused us to be unable to freshen up the squad with relegation and several years outside the top flight following.
So despite all the money Wednesday have had thrown at them, they have a wreck of a stadium, a pitch that wouldn't be out of place in Concord Park and sit 31 points behind us in the league.
Their fans are certainly self entitled, definitely deluded, but classy? Come on you're having a laugh.
