Tony Currie - Lifetime Achievement Award

I am just back from the 2nd Sheffield Celebration of Sport Award at the EIS, an Olympic legacy dinner event to celebrate Sheffield sport at all levels.

The lifetime achievement award went to our own TC, not just for his football career but for his community work over the last 20 years or so.

TC overcame his genuine shock at receiving the award to pay tribute to Sheffield and spoke of his love of the city and the people. In the background film of his breathtaking skills were on show.

It was quite emotional.

Nice to hear about this. He was a tremendous footballer and he has done some good work for the community.

I also think he owes us as much as we owe him, if not more. Our club has basically rescued this bloke from oblivion and ruin, and given him a new life after his playing days were over. No other United player in living memory has been given so much support by our club. We've been like a Fairy Godmother to him, so it's good to know he appreciates that.
