The "but our morons are better" argument hardly fills anyone with hope does it, whichever side says it?

Thats exactly the point I'd say. Where is the hope? The fuckers that are in know they've pretty much got a free hit whilst Labour is in the state that it's in. And as for Labour, what's the latest "promise" renationalise things? It'd still be the same monumental clusterfuck then as it is now. Oh, and where's the money going to come from? Are they going to trot over to Google, Amaxon or Starbucks and get them to pony up some more tax? Good fucking luck with that.

Or, more likely, a clever owner games the system, expands, employs not 25 but 24 more people (total workforce 249, fuck you McDonnell), and makes a little bit more money while not having to give away anything in terms of the business except a bit more in Employers NI.

There is a lot of truth in that statement

The link below is from France and how there is a change of company profile from 49 to 50+ employees.

The important thing for many to consider is that the world is changing and will be very different in the years to come.

We are at the dawn of the age of automation. If you are a driver of any kind, you won’t have a job in 10-20 years time. If you work in the financial sector then blockchain will do your job without any input from you whatsoever. Automation will decimate jobs across industries. New ones will be created but most will have to retrain in to technical jobs (computer coding / software development / artificial intelligence).

If we allow capitalism to run the show through this transition then most of us are screwed.

Part time work, job sharing and a government paid universal basic income will be the way in the future as foreseen by the majority of think tanks.

If you can’t see where we are going then you aren’t paying attention. If you think it’s best to leave it to the markets to decide then you haven’t been paying attention. Markets and capitalism are only good for people when they need people. When capitalism no longer need people for growth that’s when socialism will become the politics of the day and you’ll be thankful for it.
can’t wait to live in the new Eastern bloc.. ah wait .. we voted to leave it just in time
btw.. how will blockchain ‘do your job’ .. do you understand blockchain? genuinely interested

Absolutely bob on mate!

The thought of our country being ‘run’ by Labour’s incompetent morons would have been laughable if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s already being ‘run’ by Conservative incompetent morons.
the Tory morons seem a little more competent i’d be inclined to say

Oh, and where's the money going to come from?

Gas, Water, Electricity and why not the 4th utility - Broadband?

It's all coming from the £250 billion that Mcdonnell has said that the country is going to borrow - which we'll have to pay for

Seen it, been there - except this time it won't happen. The country just isn't that daft.

But 'Maureen would be able to afford a few more things.' Yeah, after Labour has looked after their pals in the public sector by dishing out pay rises, recruitment drives etc. and taxes - including council taxes - have soared to pay for it.

I hate the fucking lot of them, but they rely on tribalism, getting people to fight amongst themselves and people having the memories of goldfish. Nationalise the railways? They were fucking as bad when they were nationalised. The shower currently in Liverpool must think people are like kids at Christmas (which, to be fair, a lot of them are).

Yep tax second homes. They just forgot that a lot of people now have other homes for investment purposes since a previous Labour Government helped fuck up pensions.

And now showing how democratic they are a new referendum is proposed which will allow a remain option. Remember folks Labour the party that doesn't recognise the will of the people (unless its a vote result they like).

Yep vote Labour. A bit like the Russian revolution really. Vote for the people and transform your country into a police state with er no democracy.

Ha Ha have to laugh if Ronald Macdonald & Corbyn ever got into power remember what Animal Farm said....."Everyone is equal some are more equal than others"

Another load of bollocks. Why post stuff that's obviously untrue? You lose a lot of credibility doing so.

There are lots of remainers who want whichever government is in power to hold a second vote with a 'remain' option. However, neither Labour nor the Tories support this. The Labour Party conference is less stage managed than the Tories and as a result more motions can be tabled, but a new vote on remaining in the EU will not be LP policy.

There is a commitment to full democracy in Labour's constitution. It has pledged to respec the will of the people on Brexit and other public issues.

What evidence do you have that Labour 'plans to transform the UK into a police state' with 'no democracy' apart from the rantings of Sun and Mail columists?

well they've ignored the ref. vote.. not a very good start :) so they blatantly are 'not' committed to democracy. spin it however you like. blame the mail and the usual suspects. i'm normally a Labour voter btw. The middle class halfwit wannabe commies from Dore have overrun the party. it doesn't represent the working man anymore.

I wish this thread was a bit more of a police state:

Any chance this could be continued somehwere else more appropriate than Blades general chat?

The party to join is the Democrats and Veterans Party who want DIRECT voting - look it up

Good evidence that Labour are a set of fucking incompetent morons - also look at Venezuela who have the same policies that Labour want to implement - they are almost bankrupt and people are starving.
Think it wouldnt happen here ? think again as Venezuela should be one of the richest countries in the world with their vast oil reserves

I've got a second home which will be my pension. Osborne clamped down on 'buy-to-let', the corrupt banks give zero interest on savings, they'll nick the lot if you go into care but 'we're not saving enough for our old age'.

But, utterly predictably, the politicians have set us against each other and people like me are seen as 'greedy'. As I've said before, they don't want anybody making money apart from themselves, their already-rich mates and cunts like the banks and the 'big four' - corrupt - accountants such as KPMG and PwC.

Here's a tip. If the young can't get on the housing ladder, why not get a job - as I did at 17 - instead of tossing it off at uni. for some utterly worthless degree?

Here's another tip. Don't believe a fucking word the politicians say. And that includes champagne socialists like O'Donnell, Corbyn, Starmer, Thornberry, Abbott, Blair, Mandelson etc. etc.

As John Lydon once said, 'Ever had the feeling you've been had?'

How have they 'ignored' the referendum vote? Is discussing options after we have left the EU banned now?

So the housing crisis is due to people going to university? Some highly strange logic there.

Here's a tip. Check out the cost of housing compared to wages today, and compare it to when you were young.

Workers rights began the decline of the British economy in the late 1800s.
ONLY in reference to S11's comment :
"As if to prove he really was as stupid as he sounded, Singham went on to suggest that post-Brexit, the UK might do some individual trade deals with separate EU countries. He concluded by saying that deregulation was the way forward – British workers deserved the same rights to be crushed to death by collapsing buildings as their counterparts in Bangladesh"

quite. but they are related. most students are still paying off loans until their late twenties so they can't contemplate buying property until at least then. the student loan system has impacted buying property.. they have to leave it later .. source:daughter.

What a load of crap you've just wrote, but unfortunately typical in this debate, where people just lie about the policies of parties they don't like. If "politics has sunk" it's comments like this that are scuppering the boat.

Have you looked at Labour's tax plans at all? Under a Labour govt Maureen the Tea Lady might pay slightly less income tax or see her minimum wage rise by a couple of quid. Billy, being in the top one percent of UK earners, would pay a little more, but he'd still be far richer than me or you. They would both receive pretty much the same salary as now, the change wouldn't be huge.

Billy, along with other wealthy earners, would pay slightly more so Maureen can afford a few more things. Maybe if she's got a few more quid in her pocket she can afford a car to drive to work instead of getting the bus every day.

But we can't have that can we, because it's "communism"
No its not its socialism , and its been proved time and again that it does not work.
