Sheffield United under a Labour government...

Business with say, 225 workers.,Owner can carry on making a comfortable living - subject to the economic climate obviously - or he can borrow to expand, employing 25 more people - paying more Employers NI - and have to give a percentage of his business and profits away whilst taking all the risk himself.

Let me think.......

But, Dkc, Labour in this country haven't evolved - they're still stuck in the 80s time-warp of Derek Hatton - as can be seen in Liverpool this week. It's not a case of 'You're welcome to vote Tory. Jacob Rees Mogg would make a great PM wouldn't he? Hoorah!'. I'll never vote for any of the cunts again. The reason most MPs are remainers is because - like the Tory/LibDem coalition - they can talk tough and make election-winning promises, but then claim 'We wanted to do X, Y, Z, but the EU rules wouldn't let us.' (as May repeatedly did with immigration when she was Home Secretary).

And so it goes on. Comparing Labour and the Tories is like comparing cancer with Aids. But give 'the other lot' 5 years out of power and people forget how bad they were when they were last in Government. Our entire political system is one big stitch-up. Last week the entire system was suspended because it was the LibDem conference. That's right, the ludicrously-named 'Liberal Democrats' (who are neither) with 8% of the vote and 1 MP. So we're ruled by two identical bunch of chancers whose idea of 'wealth distribution' is into their own pockets. Not all of them? Well 389 out of 650 ain't bad - only 2 of whom were jailed (Fiddled expenses ten years ago).

Want a copper? There's hundreds permanently deployed around Parliament - usually armed - keeping the whole stinking system in place.

When I read posts like this, I often wonder what alternative people think is better and just how bad a place people think this country is.

I've travelled quite extensively, and compared to most countries I've been to, we have lot lower levels of corruption, violent crime and crime in general; we get free health care and a benefits system that supports folk as well; plus the opportunities are there for a lot of people if they work hard.

You might not like our system, but trust me when I say that most other examples in this world, which the vast majority of the world's populace is living under, is much much worse.

These plans are genius.

United loses about £7 million a year. That's 700k the "workers" are going to have to fund.

If it's done by salary that means the players. If not, stump up all ye tea bar staff, cleaners, stewards.

By the time the bureaucracy is set up, costing millions and millions, - probably run by Capita - it'd probably be cheaper for the government just to give everyone working £500 at Christmas.

We will have to have 2 women in the team, someone registered disabled and a BAME community member.

It is currently a little hazy as to whether one of the women needs to be a lesbian or whether potentially a current team member could have gender reassignment surgery and qualify.

Diane Abbott will take immediate control of the transfer budget.

The board has already been discussing it....

i'll never vote Labour again. They are quite clearly anti democratic. They do not respect the decision of the referendum which is typical of a bunch of middle class socialists with their 'mummy knows best' attitude toward proles like me.
What have they decided?

What have they decided?

Like the Tories, when it comes to Brexit, they don't know their arse from their elbow.

Bogeyman McDonnell says - well initially - we should respect the vote whilst Sir Keir Starmer says fuck the proles. Well more or less. :)

Clarification later, when they see which way the wind blows.

More hyperbole. Political debate is full of it theses days. Wonder why that is

Labour haven't said that they're going to ignore the Brexit vote and stay in. Corbyn's no fan of the EU.

As far as I know there is popular support for a vote on the terms of exit, but McDonnel said yesterday that remain woldn't be an option if a new ballot was ever held.

It's called a debate. That's why they're having a conference, to decide policies.

Why try and gloss over it with press office "clarifications" later then? It's either a debate or it's not. Don't whitewash the situation to pretend everyone is still singing from the same hymn sheet when they clearly aren't.

The Tories are having a similar debate. I.e. arguing all the time.

And Starmer said that wasn't the case. Options still open.

But then he worked on Mishcon de Reyas Brexit court challenge, which paid quite handsomely.

The important thing for many to consider is that the world is changing and will be very different in the years to come.

We are at the dawn of the age of automation. If you are a driver of any kind, you won’t have a job in 10-20 years time. If you work in the financial sector then blockchain will do your job without any input from you whatsoever. Automation will decimate jobs across industries. New ones will be created but most will have to retrain in to technical jobs (computer coding / software development / artificial intelligence).

If we allow capitalism to run the show through this transition then most of us are screwed.

Part time work, job sharing and a government paid universal basic income will be the way in the future as foreseen by the majority of think tanks.

If you can’t see where we are going then you aren’t paying attention. If you think it’s best to leave it to the markets to decide then you haven’t been paying attention. Markets and capitalism are only good for people when they need people. When capitalism no longer need people for growth that’s when socialism will become the politics of the day and you’ll be thankful for it.

Not one of them could fart without shitting themselves.

What a choice, what a fucking time to be alive.
Absolutely bob on mate!

The thought of our country being ‘run’ by Labour’s incompetent morons would have been laughable if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s already being ‘run’ by Conservative incompetent morons.

The "but our morons are better" argument hardly fills anyone with hope does it, whichever side says it?

United under a labour government. A world where both are strong, healthy and progressive.

Or, more likely, a clever owner games the system, expands, employs not 25 but 24 more people (total workforce 249, fuck you McDonnell), and makes a little bit more money while not having to give away anything in terms of the business except a bit more in Employers NI.

Billy, along with other wealthy earners, would pay slightly more so Maureen can afford a few more things. Maybe if she's got a few more quid in her pocket she can afford a car to drive to work instead of getting the bus every day.

Hmm, so every worker in the country will be entitled to a car in Corbyn's brave new world. Whilst you're at it, could you add a new iphone to the list. At £800 a pop fucked if I can afford it.

It's like Blair's , "March them to the cashpoint and make them pay the fine on the spot"

A sound bite.

How will workers share in the NHS, HMRC or a local council?

Geemfivehunfredquud,geemallfivehundredquid.

This is spot on. If there was a general election tomorrow I would be more than tempted to write “you’re all crap” on the ballot paper.

Anyway, Utb
At least you would have bothered to go to the polling station.

The fatal flaw in this proposal is the idea that shareholders automatically make profits. As opposed, say, to putting equity into loss making firms in the expectation that they may eventually make a profit. I think most of the papers this morning have correctly surmised this is simply a stealth tax on profits.

Don't know why everyone is worried, once Labour get in, Amazon and Costa Coffee will pay for the Nationalisation of everything, more policing, bigger defence budget and lots lots more money for the NHS. Just like Mexico paid for the wall between them and the USA.
Point of order on the defence budget Mr Speaker. Will we actually have any armed forces to budget for?

So to get the thread back on track, would it mean that we’d have to sell Jack O’Connel?

'Since its conference opened in Liverpool on Sunday, Labour has already announced plans for worker representation on company boards....

Under Labour's "inclusive ownership fund" proposal, Mr McDonnell said workers would be given a financial stake in their employers and more say over how companies are run.

Firms would have to put 1% of their shares into the fund every year up to a maximum of 10%.

The amount of share capital available to workers would be capped at £500, with the rest - estimated at £2.1bn a year by the end of a five-year Parliamentary term - going into a fund to pay for public services and welfare.

'Broadening of ownership'
The scheme would apply to companies with more than 250 workers, although smaller firms could set up inclusive ownership funds if they wanted to.'

How do people think this will affect us?

We have more than 250 workers so I wonder what say they will have over how SUFC is run....

No problem at all with an event that won't happen. :p

UTB

The answer is to form our own party.

The only problem I foresee is that at least half of our lot don't know how to party.

One bad result and they will descend into name calling and scapegoating, whilst wanting to change the leader.

May as well just stick with either of the other two.

Surely this is a great idea.

No way would we have hired Robson, Weir, Adkins etc if we'd have had people with common sense on the board.

Maureen... your time has come

He's at Man Utd mate. Not sure he's leave to join us.
