I'm sorry, I don't believe it does. Other teams hang onto their players for slightly longer when the bids come in. Are our contracts not as good as those from other clubs? Or are we that short-sighted that cold, hard cash always comes out above keeping a player?
Time and again we're told that players have the power. In that case, why don't they have the power to come to us? Are we that unattractive a proposition? If so, why? And should we not be looking at changing that? If Leeds - a club in the third tier of English football - can poach our players away, there's something wrong there. Wigan's bad enough, but at least they're in the Premiership, for now.
