When will he learn, is this the third time he’s rotated the squad and fielded a second string team, against a supposed “easier” to save them for the “more difficult” game to end up losing both….

Play the strongest team EVERY game to give yourself the best chance…. We don’t have the quality in depth to rotate like a prem club, and if the excuse is fitness, well get that sorted because half the team can’t run for 30 never mind 90.

Dragged right back into the relegation scrap… at least we still have something to play for… ffs.

This team needs a huge clear out, can’t wait for the season to be over.

Only Cooper came out of that ,but he wasn't really tested by a average sfc side.
Burrows 2 attempts at
defending in the area on another day would have been penalties ,misplaced passes, not on it,not pressing quickly, Arblaster miles off it,from preparation to selection and performance a complete shit show.

We should just play Seriki every minute of every game, wait till he gets injured again and then blame him for being injury prone or Wilder for not managing him properly.

Most players can't play full pelt three times in a week. It's just reality.

Even maths-wise it doesn't make sense does it? We could very easily go full strength, play as well as we can and still lose to Ipswich, coming out of 2 games with nowt. If we're being smartarses may as well have gone full strength and win tonight then change a few for Saturday.

Or here's a thing, maybe just go full strength v both and try and win both. Daft idea that, sorry.

Or is it? 7 of Liverpools outfield 10 who started tonight did so on Saturday and I dare say will again at the weekend. And thats a team with far greater strength in depth than us so can afford to rotate more. Wilder tries to be too clever for his own good sometimes. Its the fitness and strength and conditioning of the squad that is at fault and has been for a number of years.

As Roy Keane would say, 'that's their job'.
The schedule in the Champ is not a surprise, 46 games in 9 months inevitably means quite a few midweek matches. If the players can't manage that, get rid of the fuckers and recruit better

We have to go with the strongest 11 then change when the legs go. When I saw Canon up top I knew we would not score. Mind blowing this season. The things us Blades have to suffer.

"These other players did it at one of the best clubs in the world, so why can't ours?"

Some can, some can't. Sometimes players risk injury playing too often, sometimes it's just a dip in performance. Sometimes you've got players to rotate in who are just as good, sometimes they're miles off.

If the fitness and strength and conditioning of the squad is poor, surely that's an argument to rotate?

Roy Keane says lots of not very smart things. Mark Duffy couldn't manage it, thank fuck we didn't get rid of him. Nobody's arguing the recruitment has been good, but no squad in the world is filled with ultra fit players with spotless injury records.

Tom Cannon is 100% in our strongest 11 at the moment, who are you picking ahead of him?

Bamford with ohare or Hamer floating behind. Apart from a few goals, what does Canon give us? He hardly puts a bloody shift in ffs.
We've played two up top since Wilder came back and most fans want exactly that. I wouldn't mind a 4-2-3-1 again though tbf.

I don't think Cannon is amazing, but he absolutely puts a shift in. If you can't see the difference between his pressing compared to Campbell's I don't know what to say. He's got more energy in his legs than the rest of our strikers put together.

That says everything about the rest of em then.
Campbell should not start for me, he is sadly a different player this season.
4231 gets my vote.

I've said it since day one. It needs a wrecking ball taking to it. He's trying to salvage the unsalvageable. It doesn't help that some of the talent is woefully unfit. It's a difficult conundrum knowing whether to keep them next season or bomb them out to stop their bad attitude and lack of professionalism spreading through next season's group if it continues.

Cannon was pressing on his own for most of the first half. He also made some great runs that weren’t picked out. He put a shift in.

This is just mindless. Squad rotation in a congested period of fixtures is the norm in football.

I understand why Brooks, Seriki and McCallum didn't start - they all did 90 mins on Saturday which will have taken it out of them... But, as professional footballers, they should be capable.

Suppose it's only like going ET and pens in the cup

We do need to have an element of rotation in three game weeks, but the general conditioning and fitness of our players is crap. This has to be partially down to recruitment, we seem to sign a lot of crocks and we sign very few natural athletes. The rest of it is about training methods.

Not looking forward to our next two games.I wonder what rotation will be used because I see Oxford as a proper six pointer now with suspensions and injured players we do seem to be shooting our self in the foot.
I agree with the OP always pick the best side for your next game and stop worrying about the ones to follow better to take 3 points from two games than zero. Why not go strong first half and change the players at half time.I know we would be two up at half time and lose 3-2 lol

Play the strongest team every game and watch them all be injured within a handful of games.

This isn't rocket science tbh. The intensity of modern football... It's literally too intense.

Whilst I sympathise with the sentiment, our squad is woefully unfit.

We've all seen how we fade in games.

We're pretty certain Cooper is carrying a knock, that Seriki, T Davies, Riedewald, Arblaster etc. are susceptible to injuries.

Sydie Peck has missed a number of games and is still working his way back.

We have older players like Ben Mee & Bamford that can't do 3 game weeks.

We've seen that Hamer and Campbell have been too lazy to condition themselves this season, both look badly overweight and lethargic.

You then have idiots like Tanganga and Soumaré picking up straight red cards through clumsy behaviour, probably costing us 6 points and counting.

With the above in mind, how can we pick the same set of players consistently? Squad rotation is a necessary evil to avoid being without 6+ players all the time (I still remember Heckingbottom's injury management, his one weak spot).

There are players who's names I see in the side (Chong, McGuinness, Campbell, sadly Arblaster and still Cannon) and I instantly know what we're in for. I'm sure Wilder would rather avoid it too, but he can't.

Got to have squad rotation in today's football, the problem is after the first 11 most of the rest of the squad are shite and/or unfit

Re.campbell and hamer..why is this allowed though..seems very unprofessional from top to bottom.

We had a fitness and mentality issue last season and now this one too.

It underpins everything. You can't chase games, press effectively and go deep into games, nor can you fight from setbacks if you're not at max fitness levels.

A huge 'culture' problem.

This approach only works when the players rotated in are of a similar quality to the ones left out.
