one days or 2 days results are always misleading

It wasn't so much as the results in isolation. The performances were shitola too. If we'd battled against both Boro and Swans, then fair enough. But from the moment Swansea gained possession in about the seventh minute and moved up the pitch until Baldock's goal-out-of-nowhere, and then the surrender to two well crafted and executed goals and practically all of the Boo game until the appearance of Duffy, United were hopeless.

During our promotion season of 1983-4 we hit a wobbly spell around the turn of the year. I didn't live in Sheffield at the time, but used to have the Green Un posted to me every week. After we lost at Gillingham 4-2, the letters page in that paper was the newspaper equivalent of meltdown on here!

Just been looking back at the 1970-1 promotion season under John Harris.

After 3 games we had won 1 and lost 2. None of those 3 sides finished higher than 10th. One of the defeats was against Orient, who only won 9 matches all season.

Not an awe inspiring start, but I don't recall Harris getting anything like the stick dished out to Wilder this last week.

I'm not saying we will get either promoted or relegated. It's far too early to get excited or concerned about either possibility. We need a few more games before we can draw any meaningful conclusions.

To be fair oldblade, in those days, giving Harris stick would have involved writing a strongly worded letter to the Green Un and if they'd received 100 letters saying he was picking the wrong team, they'd probably have only printed one. :)

I used to stand on the John St terrace back in the 70s and to be fair there was just as much bollocks vocalised from there as you read on here. One guy who always stood just behind us, would shout as the teams were warming up, 'What ya picking that long haired nancy boy Currie for, Harris?'. There was always someone to pipe up with something equally as bizarre as a riposte. Same old rubbish, same old factions, same old know nowts but the opinions are seen by many more now, rather than shouted from the terraces. But it does seem to polarise to extremes very quickly compared to then. Two defeats was 'bloody rubbish United' back then, but now many jump to sack 'em all we're doomed and the opposite with a couple of wins.

What happens god forbid if Norwood breaks his leg at Christmas Coutts style, does he go back to Brighton as he is still their player or do we still have to cough up and buy a crock ?
A bit hard to say without reading the small print of the contract. As no one here can read the contract it is a bit of a waste of time arguing if it is a loan with the option to buy or a loan that is already agreed to become permanent on January 1st, I have heard both versions fucked if I know or care tbh

No mate. It's a permanent. Pinchy said so. He knows.

I'm pretty sure palaces performance v Huddersfield was shocking . But all teams have games where they fail to function. Even the biggest clubs with 600 million pounds worth of talent get beat or don't get going

I don't think so he's never mentioned flynn but I do know mccabe was very reticent about selling murphy because he was a crowd favourite and brighton were forced to pay a little more than they wanted ,McCabe held out for fear of the backlash fron fans.Still only paid around 1.5 for him.

McCabe confirmed they paid 2 million at the May 2016 fans forum. He also said we were due add ons if Brighton were promoted or he was called up for international duty.

I'm not at liberty - or bothered to comment on their performances.

well that helps in your narrow minded view that only the blades dont perform just to rub you up the wrong way
id be more upset if our team had cost a fortune
but we are taking lumps of coal and trying to turn them into diamonds where some clubs can buy diamonds

A poor excuse. With that mindset, I'm surprised you wanted us out of Div One.
