One for the moaners...

Fair enough but QPR will be nowhere near the play offs. Feel free to come back to this at the end of the season if i'm wrong.

Still, you have to beat the poorer teams in this league as there's plenty of good ones.

I agree, QPR aren't likely to be play off contenders. However, we have just beaten them. Last season even though we played them at Loftus Road during our 'good run' we still lost to them.

Well, given that they moan constantly, the chances are they'll be justified now and then. In the main its unmitigated, always ill-informed, often untruthful and sometimes malicious, drivel.

Just been looking back at the 1970-1 promotion season under John Harris.

After 3 games we had won 1 and lost 2. None of those 3 sides finished higher than 10th. One of the defeats was against Orient, who only won 9 matches all season.

Not an awe inspiring start, but I don't recall Harris getting anything like the stick dished out to Wilder this last week.

I'm not saying we will get either promoted or relegated. It's far too early to get excited or concerned about either possibility. We need a few more games before we can draw any meaningful conclusions.

Exactly the same amount of points as the same stage last season.

Lost to Middlesbrough both times, played play off contenders in each first game of the season (Brentford and Swansea), last season lost to Cardiff but today beat QPR who IMO looked good and could push for play offs.

Next time, take a deep breath and maybe wait before smashing your keyboard.

In Wilder we trust!

I would tend to go with Constructive criticism:

As an example:

Duffy to play
Freeman to play
Sharp to play

..........oh hang on........ALL three involved in a "footballing" goal.

Some of us didn't like Lunny and Evans in the same midfield - result today and I watched all the game - we played lots of football in midfield.

............oh hang on.........3-4-1-2 - back to what we do best.

some may very well go overboard - the most for me know how to be constructive with criticism.

The joy of no internet.

I think the internet means that supporters have the means to vent their disappointment/frustration more instantly and probably type things that they later wish they hadn't, but still carry on arguing the point because they don't want to lose face or appear foolish.

But I think there is more to it than just access to the internet. We didn't expect to win every game or play well in every game. Just because a side played badly in one match, we didn't necessarily expect immediate changes to the side. Somehow everything seems to have to be more immediate in the modern footballing world.

Back then, supporters still had the means to show their discontent from the terraces or letters to local publications. However (and maybe my memory is playing tricks, but I don't think so) I don't remember any such discontent being shown after those first 3 games.

wilder made most of the changes the moaners were clamouring for to be fair? ;)

Fair point. You knee-jerkers have an absolute right to constantly denigrate the team you claim to support. Nobody can force you to show any enthusiasm whatsoever. You are at liberty to promulgate negative, foot-stamping, self indulgent, attention-seeking garbage to your heart's content. Equally, I'll be here exercising my right to bat for the sane team.
promulgate.. that’s a fine word ;)
can’t understand the rest! :D
anyways not to get to ahead of ourselves.. beat a poor qpr team with a soft pen .. scrappy performance.. keeper MoM .. it’s a great start but we’re not out of the woods yet
oh yeah and billy blade scored Pinch ! :D

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism and discussion.

But, we lost our first two games and Wilder gets described as out of his depth, stubborn, lost the dressing room, a one trick pony etc.

And he got away lightly compared with some of the players. Some of the 'criticism' going their way was pretty offensive.

Thing is IB, it's not the moaners who got CW to make the changes. That was just CW doing his job.
Maybe we should leave him to it for a few games before assuming he doesn't know what he's doing?
Really?

Do you think he was totally unaware that the majority of fans were bewildered and upset with his team selection and that’s had no part in his thinking?

I think it’s had a major part in his thinking tbh. He came out publicly to defend these criticisms earlier in the week for a start. And today he brought back 3 players that most fans have been saying should be in the starting 11.

What about those who went today but were also slagging the team??

I don’t think he’s been mutually exclusive.

Not necessarily you mi owd lad, but generally - surely there reaches a point where you wonder about the logic of spending so much time defending the right to slag off the team you support? It is a little absurd.

I bet it didn’t and rightly so.

Well why did he make reference to it then and “mistakes” that might have been made? Why did he change the team to bring those 3 back?

Just coincidence you think?

I think the moaners ought to STFU - they are not real fans. They have no right to call themselves a blade. Part time fans - not worth their salt. I think they should have their season tickets taken off of them - in fact they shouldn't be allowed to breed or offspring kept to <2. They know nothing about football and if they believe that I mean everything that I have just written then they know even less!

Moan over ! :p

Indeed -but it's getting to the point where the idiots need o be called out and the ones offering valid and constructive debate are not tarred with the same brush.

Plenty of reasoned arguments/discussions but quite a few intolerant posters who don't appear to be able to stand certain criticisms.

Perhaps there should be a section called Blades love in.

why did you deem it necessary to make this provocative post? serious question

I can't accept that CW is influenced by supporters to the extent that he would've continued with the same team had there been a few less dissenters. He's not daft. He could see how the people he'd trusted to do a job for him had let him down. In fact he got rid of one of them to Wigan!

What do you mean, 'claim to support'? So,you're suggesting that because we offer critique that we capitulated in the first two games of this new season, we are less-of supporters than you? Prove it.

And as for the 'negative, foot-stamping, self indulgent, attention-seeking garbage', is that a qualified judgement, or the fact that you yourself have 'crawled out from under your rock' because we have pulled of a win today at Loftus Road? I mean, what was your qualified opinion when Middlesbrough's third goal went in? Sorry, but I did not quite hear you at that precise moment. The board was quite very much alight with 'For fuck's sake!' and 'Fuck me Baldock. Can't you defend a basic punt into the box, you useless cunt?' comments. Where were you to explain the team's faults and misgivings back then?

Explain also why we haven't signed anyone of real merit during the permanent transfer period, please. Go on. You seem to have all the answers ….

Three from nine.

To be fair oldblade, in those days, giving Harris stick would have involved writing a strongly worded letter to the Green Un and if they'd received 100 letters saying he was picking the wrong team, they'd probably have only printed one. :)
