Looks like we are signing fooking Zidane! Haha
One things for sure though the lad knows what it takes to win at this level... will be a great addition to this club. Looking forward to see him in a blades shirt

I didn't think that Bash did too badly in that role yesterday ;)

Not watched the game but heard he played very well. Just feel we've been here before with Basham, seems to excel every time we put him in a position but his 8/10 performances soon become 5-7/10s Maybe im being unfair though. I do seem to have an irrational but mild dislike for the lad who in all honesty never seems to have done much wrong cant quite put my finger on it. maybe its the utility man tag and the jack of all trades persona which means I never see him as a specialist.

I described him before the game as our modern day Bob Booker.

Not a greatly talented player but always gives it everything and rarely has an absolute mare.

Help me out here chaps and chapesses as if I'm totally honest here I know sweet fuck all about Norwood .

He's clearly a midfielder but what I'm struggling with is where he fits into our current set up . Is he a Coutts type midfield orchestrator who keeps us ticking over and influences our tempo ? Or is he more of a Fleck type midfielder who's both tenacious and dynamic and drives us forward . Or is he the Duffy type who both links the forwards with midfield and is our creative livewire who's difficult to pick up ? Or is he something completely different to what we currently have ?

With CW's stated aim of bringing players who will make us better and the money we'll have to pay ( a couple of million at least even with his contract situation ) . I guess the bit I'm really struggling with is who will he be replacing ?

At Fulham when he was used, to me he seemed to be the link between the deeper playing McDonald and the more creative, attacking Cairney. He'll help us hold onto the ball better in the middle i would imagine whilst adding abit of bite in there too.

He's certainly an upgrade on Evans and if he's signing a perm too in Jan for the fee rumoured. He should be a bargain at that price (around £1.5m)

I’m with you on this. I think Basham is a great tryer who gives 100% every minute of every game. But he’s the most brainless footballer in the entire squad if you ask me. The number of times he just hoofs the bloody thing and loses possession is frustrating.

We’ve agreed a loan for Norwood with a deal to be made permanent in January, for JOC...

Can't argue with this one. He was part of the Brighton team that got promoted and then the Fulham team that got promoted the next season. That alone tells me he's an upgrade over Lee Evans. And he's a good age too.

On paper, this seems like an amazing bit of business.
why don’t Brighton want him if he’s that good?

Can’t say I’ve ever noticed him before tbh.

Maybe he’s not quite good enough to make the gulf in class forntuenpremier league? Maybe he is still getting his game up to speed and will be good enough in time...hopefully with us.

You’re such a grumpy bum

? Eh? :tumbleweed:

Not a grump intended in my previous. I’m genuinely curious as to what the story is there? He’s played for some good clubs at some key times, so has he fell out of favour, or out of form? That’s the question?

I have never noticed the guy before - that doesn’t mean anything - he may be a genius for all I know. I’ve not heard folks on here saying we should go for him before now either? But it seems, all of a sudden he’s the new great white hope?

Just curious - and maybe a bit cynical too as I’ve read so many opinions on here about incomings being “relight players” and “just what we need” and “would be amazing” and most have turned out to be very ordinary.

On the contrary, ones we didn’t wax lyrical about on here have often turned out to be good!

I think bash will be finding his best position in the club soon, on the bench, I am not having a go at the lad but he is a great asset to have on the bench because he can play in a lot of positions which must be great for the manager, the thing about basham is he keeps coming back and proving to everyone what an asset to the club he is, I would hate to see him leave.

Because he’s a very good Championship player but not good enough for the Premier League.

Brighton are a Premier League club, we are a Championship club.

I thought that would be pretty bleeding obvious, but maybe not. ;)

Everyone looks great on youtube but what I like most about is that it looks like his first thought is always to play forward.

Egan seems keen to do that as well, he doesn't carry the ball much but he's always looking to pass it into midfield as early as possible.

Think our style would benefit from a few more early, forward passes - not gerritinbox but just giving the opposition less time to settle. That should help compensate for our lack of pace.

I think I saw Huddersfield’s first game after the playoff final win over us, a Friday night game on TV, where on his debut I thought he was the clear MOTM – superb performance, which certainly made me notice him.

Hesitant to say he’s exactly what we need, but what the hell, he’s exactly what we need.

Sanctioned

Apparently CW threw his cup across the room :D

Wilder has said JOC is not for sale, several times I believe.

Wilder also said in one of the recent interviews uploaded to ifollow that our bids for Freeman and Waghorn had not met the clubs valuations. Then he said the same as the bids that had been placed for JOC had not met our valuation.

Whether that means the valuation on JOC is get fucked you aren’t having him or it’s Norwood + some cash who knows.

No player is never 100% not for sale.

Looking at stats looks good 33 & 36 games in consecutive promotion season for Reading & fulham. Espically Fulham who were outstanding January onwards almost surpassing wolves

Wilders comments still confusing. Something doesnt add up. Post swansea we had bids in 4 people. Post boro we're skint, signing nobody as nobody will improve us. To post QPR signing a premier league permanent in january
