Where's Freeman

I was thinking Stevens was just suffering from burnout last season and although I'll give him a few more games yet, it seems that he's just carried that form over the summer break and into this season.
so why wasn’t he replaced?

My thoughts precisely, I’ve found the attitudes and vitriol on this site much worse than Saturday’s performance. It’s depressing how fair weather many have become on the back of our good start last season. As someone else pointed out, if Brentford had played two up top last August we’d have been beat but they were powderpuff. We’re a bang average championship team at best and considering our constraints, that’s not going to change any time soon. Let’s stop sounding like Wednesday fans and get some perspective.

What’s harsh is Wilder not giving Lafferty any game time at all when Stevens was so obviously under par.

I’m not saying Lafferty is a waste of space. To be clear, I’m saying it’s a waste of a good wage paying a player you don’t seem to trust to come in when someone’s form is hit.

Regarding injury, if either O’Connell or Stevens got injured, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bryan get the nod.

I’ve never bought into Lafferty being cover for O’Connell. One is a 6’3” marauding mountain of a player, the other is a slim, not especially robust fullback.

Nothing against him. He did a solid job and now to advance, his replacement needs replacing. So there is little value for him or us him still being here.

people are waking up mate it took saturdays performance to make them raise their heads but grumblings have been going on for a while
personally i don’t get stevens he’s worse than Lafferty .. it worries me there is a bit of a pals act going on.. some of the decisions recently make no sense
i remember the comments from Oxford

That's all well and good but he isn't a left back. He's supposedly a left wing back. Crossing is HUGE for his role, especially if we lack creativity in the center. Our style is heavily reliant on width and overlapping, we need better end products from those areas.

Maybe that's why Bryan has been brought in. Not just to cover JO'C.

I get that about Stevens. He does some great approach play but his crossing is poor. Mind you I think our crossing as poor in general. Hardly any whipped in at pace - saw several examples of good "shaped" crosses on the Quest Football League programme from all three divisions that finished in good headed goals. You only need the direction on a a good cross since the power is already there for you.

Evans corners have been good, though. They were good vs Inter and good on Saturday too.

Evans whipped a reyt ball in later in the game. The commentator called it a strikers dream, but even that was few and far between.
How many headers do we score from open play? For a team who predominantly play down the flanks how many crosses lead to headed goals because it feels like hardly any.
All this was highlighted though because there were little to no penetration coming from the center midfielders.

You comment was specifically about how left footed he is. He's no worse than any of the other left footers in that respect and actually passes/crosses a ball better than both Stevens and O'Connell.
like fuck does he

Quite a few posts on this (and other threads) being critical of the fans for expecting too much and being pig-like for having disgusting traits such as this. So there you have it folks, to be a proper Blade it is necessary to have no ambition, to accept whatever crap is thrown our way.and to be grateful to Mr McCawber for guiding us to financial security in L1.

Like an injury to JoC or Stevens?
Yes thats a good point as Lafferty can cover for a centre half position especially now that Wright isnt here.

Wright is still here?
Yes, he's still here, but injured.........
Which is strange really as Wilder said everyone was fully fit and ready to go bar Coutts, who isn't ready yet.
So he missed out Wright and didn't mention Freemans potential problem.

How Lafferty can’t get a game in place of Stevens is beyond Me.

I don’t particular rate Lafferty for this division and I was a fan of Stevens at the start but his form has been woeful and Lafferty must feel a reyt cunt.

If Lafferty isn’t good enough Wilder then get some fucker in who you think is because at present Stevens needs dropping, pure and simple.

Play Freeman on that side if you have to, I’m sure he’ll do a better job than Stevens has been doing.

Those who think Baldock should be played instead of Freeman need to look at the facts about when Freeman has played for us and when Baldock has played for us.
If you want quality delivery and someone who is going to get goals as well as assists, it is quite simple play the better team player, Freeman.
