Don't worry, Wilder had a increased transfer kitty this year now add £12m to it. We are going to sign some reet players.

and.. we can buy him back when we go up and bournemouth go down ( which they inevitably will)How can anyone blame him for moving on. He waa hardly a guaranteed starter last season, has a chance to set himself up for life and play at the highest level. His natural game is attacking. He's joined a great team for that. He never fitted into Wilder's style and struggled with the defensive aspect.
Glttl. He's made us a lot of money and if we have a sell-on clause it could be over £20 million in the end. We would all move for that promotion. He's only been with us two years so why should he feel some random debt of gratitude. Remember, he was all set to go to Chessie until he changed Wilder's mind.
So why little old Bournemouth with home crowds of 11000 and not one of the average premiership teams. Maybe no one else was interested for a reason.
42?Have a guess.
Well the top teams are a bit distracted by the World Cup at the moment - it's a transfer moratorium until that ends for the biggest sides really isn't it? So Bournemouth sneak in and we fall for it - in fact you've fallen for it. Don't be daft ... ' no one else interested ' ..... rubbish - *Darius Henderson has just gone for a quick payday for himself ... no other reason....
Haven't you noticed that the big teams use the crap premier teams as feeder clubs, Hull, Bournemouth etc. buy talent at wholesale prices from hopeless clubs like ours, keep them at premier league levels of match fitness while they learn the ropes and come up to speed until they can find a gap in their squads by moving their players on (to Spain or wherever).
So Man City buy Brooks at retail price in a year's time when Bournemouth may well be relelgated but they get £50M + for him in 2020.
Great business by McCabe ........
that's it gone, he's the best player we've had for many many years and he's gone - and we haven't even got the price of a reliable, decent championship forward for him....
* because its far more profitable for agents to sell them twice, once to a shit Premier team like Bournemouth for £12M and then again after a year for £50M to City (or whoever). That's why this wholesale then retail sale goes on all the time .... Maguire, Walker etc. Bournemouth are like shopkeepers.
but Wilder and McCabe took the first offer
Do you people who say this bit about ambition ever actually think about what you mean?I personally think McCabe should move on at the end of next season if we finish lower than last.
Last year Brooks said he owed us for giving him a chance after been released by Man City.
I don’t think he has had his head turned but Wilder and McCabe took the first offer so Wilder could have some money to spend.
Shows again the owners lack real ambition.
All that said if Wilder gets in the right players and we finish top six Brooks will be forgotten ( well until he goes from Bournemouth to a top six club for 60 mill).
He'd stand more chance of making it if he was playing regularly this coming season. He had a few good games last season, but this one was his chance to kick on, become a regular and then step up to the top level. Trying to step up to the top level with little chance of regular time on the pitch is going to make him very rich, but might not be the best path for his development. Plenty of promising young footballers fail to achieve their full potential by signing for the wrong club at the wrong time. Jordan Slew was never going to be a world beater, but he could have been a decent Championship level player if he'd been developed properly instead of chasing the money and ending up way out of his depth.I find ideas that Brooks 'may not make it' pathetic.
Of course he will - he's the best player at Bramall Lane for 40 years ..... geez. some of you lot must be utterly ambitionless if you think getting £12M for a player of that quality is a good deal for the club.

I'm sad and I can see Wilder leaving soon too - after all, the last interview with him that I've seen has been contradicted within a couple of weeks.

Genuine question. Do you think Brooks is better than Walker? Obviously they’re different players but I’m not sure I agree with Brooks being the best players at United in the last 40 years.
He's a talented lad, with potential, but if he is our best player in 40 years, no wonder we have had such a bad time. He made an impact in perhaps 3 matches last season (extenuating circumstances, I know, with his illness), but surely a player has to be having an impact in a large number of games over several seasons to have a claim to be the best in 40 years.I find ideas that Brooks 'may not make it' pathetic.

Oh yes - I think he's possibly the finest English player of his age.
or Welsh depending how he self identifies in future.
I think it was Wilder's last but one interview, on the pitch at Bramall Lane about a fortnight back - he said that they wouldn't be selling any of our best players unless it was for 'silly money' or words to that effect. I must say though, I felt at the time there may be a problem on the horizon because he listed Coutts, Fleck, Duffy (I think) then Brooks as a slight afterthought .... perhaps he was troubled?

YES Blade are you sure you're not just trying to make yourself feel better?
LBJ - Well, that's what I think and I remember watching Walker and seeing how good he looked - it was obvious to us but his talent didn't seem to be recognised by the ownership of our once great club.
We have 2 owners, neither of whom attend most of the matches, whether Wilder really gets a final say, well, 'he who pays the piper calls the tune' - but has McCabe actually seen how good Brooks is?
I didn't think he attended most games anymore - I thought that would break the terms of his tax exilement ?

He struggled to get in our team and this time last year was getting shipped to Chesterfield on loan. I suppose he’ll enjoy watching the relegation battle from the bench.

To balance it a bit, He gets to work with two players with similar attributes who have had great careers. Giggs and Bale. It's just my opinion, like I said I could be wrong.
He's 21 and not really done much in his career so far, granted he's physically a late developer, but usually the top level talent show a lot more by the age of 21.
I also think the choice to play for Wales says a lot about him mentally, if he really rated himself as an elite player he would have waited for England.

well said.Bollocks to him. We do not need, nor should we want, players who do not want to play for us. I’d always hoped that his experience at Man City might count in our favour. Stupid of me, in retrospect. We were always a stepping stone.
He’s actually given us very little, relative to what we have given him. That being the case, I can’t quite bring myself to say GLTTL. Rather, I’ll say IHHDRI (I hope he doesn’t regret it).
