I see your point mate but to be fair, whilst I totally agree that McCabe & The Prince are undoubtedly both very successful businessmen …… neither of them has ever demonstrated a deep seated knowledge and understanding of the football industry.

They appear to think that football Clubs can be run successfully as a business …… they can't !! Football clubs are the plaything of the very wealthy and regrettably, the two owners we are lumbered with are not prepared / do not have the resources to allow us to compete successfully in the Championship.

The most annoying thing about it is that they pretend that they do have the resources and they treat the supporters like mushrooms ……. o_O

UTB & FTP
I think when they employ an average manager their weaknesses are exposed. But, as I said in my post, they are being advised by Wilder.

Hirst didn't start a single senior game for them and isn't an international footballer, not comparable.

How does this compare ?

Cardiff City have completed the signing of Bristol City forward Bobby Reid for a fee reported to be £10m.

The 25-year-old scored 19 goals in 46 league games last term and also attracted interest from West Bromwich Albion and Derby County.

You don’t ‘let’ me do anything I’m afraid. If you want my advice you need only ask for it, by whatever means are convenient, at my usual hourly rate. Quit the bravado and posturing of the ‘say it to my face if you dare’, though, eh? I’ve fished in big ponds.

What do you predict as the outcome of my club’s relegation struggle that you so eagerly anticipate? We’ll find a way to see if you match your malice with hard cash. Put up or shut up.

What malice is that then? Your the one spouting insults, if you don't like my opinion then either reply with respect or don't bother. Pint offer stands, up to you that.

I believe that DB is at the same Agency as Kane, Zaha, Sessignon, Cairney, Fredericks, Hogan, Che Adams, Freeman & Jack Robinson, among others.

True and I don't think Mark Rankine is part of the group that has the above players. Sadly football agents is a huge part of football but some are decent and some are not and just want their player to earn as much money as possible preferably by moving clubs regularly in the process. Not saying that is necessarily the case for Brooks but its a bit of a coincidence that he moved so soon after the change of agent as many have already said.

Yes. I think the problems started this time last year. As soon as he got called up to the England u20’s, if not then definitely on his welsh call up.

It’s like you staying at home while your missus goes travelling to Thailand, you try to pretend everything’s ok when she gets back & she says she still loves you, but deep down you know she’s had her hands on a cockatoo whilst she’s been away. :)

Ha funny analogy mate! We all knew Brooks was going to leave. It was when and how much that we didn't know obviously. In the past we've frequently undersold players even in recent years. Harry Maguire at 2.5 million was 1 million undersold but saying that we might not have got that and then we'd have had an unhappy player on our hands. Kyle Walker was the worst for me. Only played 10 games and sold for 4 million. He was always going to be worth at least twice that a season later but some might say that Brooks will be double your money too. The problem is keeping Brooks probably means we can't afford players around him other than loans - if we're trying to improve the squad. Maybe now we can afford 1 maybe 2 players that are permanent. 12 millin rising to 15 is a fair price for Brooks in my view.

It'll certainly be an exciting month ahead and England in the World Cup to boot! Still can't believe Brooks chose Wales by the way but maybe that'll be an inspired choice.

How does this compare ?

I don't think either is a good comparison.

Hirst- never played league football, out of contract and moving abroad to circumvent compensation rules.

Reid- More proven than Brooks buy into the last year of his contract. Otherwise I'm sure he'd be more like 20million like James Maddison. If Brooks had stayed and had a full season with us, he'd probably be comparable to Maddison. As we've sold early, it's difficult to compare and could be a good move for us to cash in early (like slew was) or one that we look back on with huge regret (like Walker).

I think it'll be somewhere in between. I think he'll have a good career but won't hit the heights Qalker has.

Thing is few comparisons are valid.

The only true price for anything or anybody in life is what someone else wishes to pay.

Though with hindsight we will say.

A - What a great deal - if he does a Jordan Rhodes.

B- What a shit deal - if he does a Harry Kane

Though if A proves correct we will keep quiet for it may mean applauding the board for good business, of course then we could say it was CW's idea.

Anyway GLTTL I have a few good memories. Though many more from the rest of the team.

Cardiff have just signed 19-goal Bobby Reid from Brizzle City for around £9-10million (sources differ).

If we're comparing prices, that makes the Brooks deal look very good indeed.
Reid only has 1 year left on his contract.

The downside of selling a player for an eight figure sum is all the agents and clubs know we have money in the kitty and will be demanding silly money for average players. We usually get to a stand off over tens of thousands when negotiating for players.
Like Pigs quoting Norwich £3m just to loan the Rhodent.

Still hoping the lad realizes he's better off where he is and turns them down at the last minute. Just don't think he's ready for the prem yet.

Is he better off where he is though? I know it’s not something that we want to consider but maybe he’d be better off at Bournemouth. Financially he’s obviously going to be better off with them but footballing wise he might be better off with them also. Maybe he isn’t ready for the Prem just yet but there’s nothing stopping Bournemouth loaning him to a Championship team next season with a view to him playing in the Prem next season.

Has he gone yet? There's only so much time a bloke can spend in the car park at the lane with my...er...his shoe half-off in anticipation...

Heard he's just found out that Bournemouth isn't in Wales.

Trying to get similar deal out of Afan Lido as we speak.

Transfer not yet official, could it be a twist with other offers?

Or could it be a failed medical? Leaving us with an unfit, unhappy player and a £12m shaped hole in the budget.

(Unsubstantiated) twist that Spurs entered the race to sign him at the last minute which can only be good for Utd in the his price may be driven up.

When he eventually does go can we get them to loan him back to us for the derby games?
